The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away. And he said to me, You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified. And now the Lord says, he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him; and that Israel might be gathered to him for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength he says: It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth. Isaiah 49:1-3, 5-6 Before each mission s trip, I ask the Lord to give me a promise from His word to serve as a worship and intercession focus during my trip. As I sought His face before traveling to Malawi, He answered my prayer and spoke to me His promises and Truth from Isaiah 49. His heart is to bring His salvation to the ends of the earth including the precious people of Malawi- for His glory! While in Malawi for these past two weeks, the Lord allowed me to serve the teachers in two Christian schools through teacher training and to minister to the missionary family that served as my host. He allowed me to go into the slums outside of Blantyre and work with three families whose children have cerebral palsy and whose living conditions were deplorable- small shacks with no electricity or running water. And yet, the families demonstrated great joy in Jesus and (Continued on page 2) Inside: Calendar 2 Events & Info 2-3 Cafeteria Corner 2 Parent/Teacher Conferences 3 Archery Club 4 Middle School Retreat 4 2 nd Grade Activities 5 Staff Spotlight Miss Moore 5 ~ 1 ~

(Continued from page 1) a trust in His promises. The Lord used this time in Malawi to give His grace and peace and to show His faithfulness. And He opened my eyes to see His love for the children and nation of Malawi. Yes, His salvation will reach to the end of the earth and His love for us is engraved in His palms- a sign of His love, His grace, and His obedience to the Father. What a great love has the Lord demonstrated for us in this sacrifice and now He calls to you. Calls you to share this love, this hope, this truth. Today be reminded that He has your name engraved on the palms of His Hand. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. Cornerstone Archery Club by Bryan Rice Cornerstone Archery Club has begun its third season. The club practices on Mondays and Wednesday mornings at 6:45 at the high school campus. We have equipment for people to use if they do not have their own as well as people who are willing to teach others who have never shot before. We participate in online tournaments and the state tournament in Lincoln in March. We have had one member qualify and participate in the national tournament. Both boys and girls are welcome to join us and we look forward to opening this opportunity up to middle school students when the high school moves to the Southroads campus. ~ 4 ~

Miss Courtney Moore Our Staff Spotlight for October is Miss Courtney Moore. Courtney is originally from McCook, Nebraska. She moved to Omaha in 2005 to attend college. She graduated from Grace University with a degree in Biblical Studies and Middle School Education with emphasis in Math, Language Arts, and ELL. Courtney is pursuing her Master s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from the University of Concordia-Irvine. Before coming to Cornerstone she taught 7 th and 8 th grade math for 3 ½ years at Norris Middle School in OPS and worked five years at Grace University as the Head Volleyball Coach, Academic Resource Center Director, and Assistant Athletic Director. Miss Moore started at Cornerstone in January of 2018 as a long-term substitute for 8 th Grade Bible. This year she is very busy as she serves as the 6 th Grade Math teacher, a High School Math Teacher, Athletic Director, and Interim Head Volleyball Coach. Fun Tidbits: Courtney holds a purple belt in Karate and is working towards becoming a Black Belt. She loves to travel and loves to be outside in nature. Favorite Scriptures: Miss Moore has several favorite scriptures John 6:35, Ephesians 2 (the whole thing!), Jeremiah 17:7-8, & Revelation 21:3-5. She also shared her thoughts loving God s Word. Psalm 119 taught me how to love the Word of God. As a teenager, I remember reading that chapter and I could not believe nearly every single verse was about loving God s Word. How could anyone feel that way? I thought. But, I also prayed that God would teach me how to love his Word like that. That he would bury a passion for his truth inside of me. And he has completely answered that prayer. We are glad that you are a part of Cornerstone, Courtney. Your cheerful spirit is a blessing to us all! Ask Miss Moore about the Cow, the Cat, and the Camel. ~ 5 ~
