DESCRIPTION An intrductry study f the biblical basis f intercultural ministry, the histry f missins, current strategies fr intercultural ministry, the preparatin fr intercultural ministry, and the rle f the lcal church in intercultural ministry. (Interdisciplinary curse) * This is a blended class, meaning that bth campus and nline students take this class tgether. OBJECTIVES A. General cmpetencies t be achieved: 1. Missinary Interview Based n the questins included at the end f the syllabus, cnduct an interview f a missinary (active career missinary, missin rep, r retired missinary are all acceptable, MK s are nt). 4. Pastral Interview Cnduct an interview with a missinary. Write a 3 page (minimum) paper abut the missinary s call int missins, the rganizatin with which they serve, and the wrk that they d based n all t the data gathered in the questinnaire. Als, interact with the answers persnally, what was interesting t yu, what d yu think Gd might be using in yur life, what d yu think abut their rganizatin and area f service? What questins abut missins were brught up r yu had answered as a result f this interview? Include a typed transcript f the interview. Based n the questins included at the end f the syllabus, interview a Senir Pastr (r the Missins Directr) whse church actively supprts missins. Cmprehensive Paper In lieu f Exams the student will spend the semester wrking n a cmprehensive paper that summarizes their understanding and learning frm the curse. This paper will be due in tw stages. Stage 1: Fr the first stage the student will submit a ten page paper in Turabian frmat which summarizes the argument f the curse frm the first tw sectins; Why Missins, A Brief Histry f Missins. This paper is t serve as the rugh draft fr the final prduct. The prfessr will grade it fr cntent, spelling, grammar and frmat. Stage 2: The secnd stage is a 20 page final paper which includes the first 10 pages, revised, and 10 additinal pages summarizing the additinal cntent frm the curse. This paper will be graded primarily n cntent, hwever, significant grammar r frmatting issues will still result in a lss f pints. Bth papers shuld be in prper Turabian frmat, with in text citatins and additinal resurces as necessary. Page 3

Other translatins and versins based n dynamic equivalence (paraphrases, and thught-fr-thught translatins like NLT and NIV) may be used as supplemental surces.
