Pray and discern about it with an open heart your heart will be FILLED! Today s Gospel Reading... In today s Gospel, we hear the Twelve referred to as apostles. The word apostle is a Greek word meaning one who is sent. Jesus chose twelve men from among his disciples whom he sent to share in his ministry of preaching and healing. The first report of this is found in the third chapter of Mark s Gospel, where the Twelve are also called apostles and the names of this select group are listed. We who are Jesus disciples today have also been sent to share the Gospel with others. Perhaps our commitment to following Jesus as his disciple leaves us feeling tired and overwhelmed. In today s Gospel, we hear Jesus affirm the importance of times of rest and renewal. Jesus wanted his disciples to come away and spend time alone with him. This is what we seek and find in our life of prayer and in our celebration of the Eucharist. Adapted from https://www.loyolapress.com/our-catholic-faith/liturgical-year/sunday-connection/16th-sunday-of-ordinary-time-b-sunday-connection DATE CHANGE FOR MONTH OF JULY Our next gathering will be Wednesday, July 25th from 12:30 p.m. 2 p.m. in Corpus Christi Hall. Around the Diocese and Parish Neighborhood EVERYONE HAS TALENTS Everyone has talent and at least the minimal skill to decide and find their way in this world. The talents everyone has can be used solely for self OR for others to make the world a better place for everyone. Such talents are sometimes used mainly for self-serving interests or can be employed to assist others on their paths of life. Our God-given talents are very hard to explain. But we all know there are certain things we can do on our own with the skills and abilities we possess: finding our way, helping ourselves, and ultimately making the choice to share our talents, skills, and knowledge with others. Our TALENTS can be used for good or for very selfish interests as we see with the might makes right or everyone for themselves attitudes and behaviors we find in our communities today. We can also find many examples of true Christ-like charity among those around us. Most people use their talents for good rather than for bad and are ready when called or inspired (filled with the Spirit) to serve others in their needs. We can find many examples every day of personal sacrifices for others taken by individuals who are using their talents on behalf of others with different or lesser talents. We all know what our skills are and how we are able to do certain things. It is how we use and share those talents that will be judged by God at our final court date. Think seriously about sharing your talents with others by joining our work in assisting and guiding as best we can the poor and disadvantaged in our midst. Everyone has talent and our Society s talent search is always underway to increase our talent base of good and to direct your prayers for others. Prayer or talking with God is a talent all of us have and can be shared for the benefit of others. Joyful Again! Retreat for Widows and Widowers Joyful Again! is a nationally recognized retreat.
