Thought for the Week Many are under the impression that a child of God is born full grown; that once a person becomes a convert, instantaneously he/she becomes a mature Christian. Consequently, mature Christian conduct is expected from those who are in reality mere babes in the family of God. Many new Christians have been greatly distressed by their failure to measure up to what they believe they should be as followers of Jesus. They have mistakenly laboured under the impression that once you become a child of God, Christian character and maturity naturally follow. As children of God, we all need to recognize that spiritual growth is both a responsibility and a continuing opportunity; and help younger Christians, those who are babes in Christ, on their journey towards spiritual maturity. Prayer this Week do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Phil. 4v6 The World the tens of thousands of people in Raqqa, Syria, held hostage whilst a battle with IS continues around them.
