Connect. Inspire. Serve. Welcome to Worship at Memorial Presbyterian Church! We are delighted you have chosen to worship at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Our hope is that every person who enters Memorial will CONNECT with God and the community of faith, be INSPIRED to a life of discipleship and spiritual growth, and discover ways to SERVE our neighbors near and far. Please join us for coffee and conversation immediately following the worship service today. Friendship Pad: We ask that all worshipers sign the Ritual of Friendship pad, located on the center aisle side of the pew. Sign your name, address and phone number, and pass it along the pew and then back again so that we can get to know each other and greet each other by name. Accessibility at MPC: The sanctuary is equipped with a Hearing Loop system that allows people to receive the sound from the church s audio system in their own hearing aids. Large-size bulletins and hymnals are also available from the ushers. Please contact an usher if you have any questions on accessibility issues. Children of all ages are welcome in the worship service. Nursery care is provided for children from birth to 3 years of age. Pagers are given to parents in the event that communication is necessary. In addition, a Children s Table is located by the entry if you wish to take your child from the sanctuary, yet be able to hear and see the service. Kinderchurch is an age-appropriate worship experience provided for children ages 3 through Grade 2. Children attend worship with their parents for about 15 minutes, and then move to the Kinderchurch room as a group. It is not held on Sundays when communion is served, so that children will be able to experience communion with their parents. Communion: The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has an Open Table. All who are baptized, all who hold Jesus as their Lord and Savior, are invited to the table. Children may take communion with parent s consent. Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month, and at other designated services. Please feel free to contact the church office at (920) 734-1787 or info@mpcappleton.org with any questions you may have.

All who are baptized, all who hold Jesus as their Lord and Savior, are invited to the table. Today, we come forward to receive the Supper by Intinction, taking a piece of bread and dipping it into the juice before eating. Communion Prayer One: God is with you! All: And also with you! One: Open wide your hearts! All: They are open to God s presence in this place. One: Let us give thanks to the living God. All: It is right to give thanks and praise. One: Let us all pray. All: Mighty, gentle, passionate God, as we come to this table, we remember your loving acts down through the ages: One: how you brought forth the universe from yourself, formed humans from the dust of the earth and your own breath, and brought into covenant with you Abraham and Sarah and Hager; Rachel and Leah; Moses, Miriam, and the people of Israel. All: We remember how you led the house of Israel into resistance, out of slavery, and into freedom. One: How you sustained them with food and water in the wilderness, how you ate and drank with them on a mountain top, face to face and how finally you brought them to a land flowing with milk and honey, where you hoped they would live in gratitude and justice. All: We remember how at last you sent to us a Messiah, One: One to gather a community that would make plain in deed what had always been true: That you are always with us, that you love and care for all things, all people, and that your grace is stronger than our power to fail. All: In wind and fire that community came to know your Holy Spirit, Greg: Empowering centuries of faithful women and men of all ages, tongues, and races, to continue the ministry that Jesus and his community had begun. There, standing among the great community of saints in this place and in all places, throughout all time and beyond all time, we rejoice and joyfully proclaim: 5

HYMN #552 Holy, Holy, Holy One: We remember, Gracious God, that Jesus ate and drank with the poor and wealthy, sinful and righteous alike. When he saw the multitude that followed him with nothing to eat, he took some loaves of bread and a few fish and after giving thanks to you he broke the bread and gave it his disciples. And all shared and ate and were filled. When his arrest seemed near, Jesus sat at table in an upper room, with his closet friends and relatives. As he had done so many times before, he took the bread and after giving thanks to you he broke the bread and gave it to the disciples saying, Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise after the meal he took the cup and after giving thanks he gave it to them saying, Truly I tell you, I will never drink of the fruit of the vine until I drink it new with you in the Realm of God. So do this in remembrance of me. All: As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim Christ s life, we lament Christ s death, and we celebrate Christ s resurrection until the kingdom comes. HYMN #553 Christ Has Died; Christ Has Risen LORD'S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. HYMN #554 Amen 6

The Communion Communion Anthem None Can Tell D. Gawthrop Prayer after Communion Bountiful God, we give thanks that you have gathered us into a great congregation to your beloved at this table. Now send us forth into the world rejoicing, that we may be the salt, the light, the leaven in the struggle for shalom. By the strength of this meal and your grace help us to continue Christ s ministry of justice, reconciliation, peacemaking understanding and compassion. For it is in Christ s name that we pray and seek to live. Amen This Communion Service is based on Touch Holiness: Resources for Worship (Tirabassi & Duck) HYMN #69 Here I Am, Lord Bearing and Following the Word Into the World CHARGE & CHORAL BENEDICTION Go with us, Lord, and guide the way through this and every coming day, that in your spirit strong and true our lives may be our gift to you.
