Scott Hoezee to preach and Paul Herrema to lead us in ministry of music. The Worship Committee has been soliciting song suggestions from our young people to use in our worship services. This morning we will be singing We Are Called [#296] which was requested by Lydia Tolsma. Evening worship: We welcome Klaas Walhout to preach. Klaas is a student at Princeton Theological Seminary, a chaplain intern at Pine Rest for the summer, a member of Neland Ave CRC, and the grandson of Clare and Jan Walhout.

WORSHIP Next Sunday, August 19 Morning worship: The Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys will continue our series on the spiritual disciplines with a sermon from John 13 on the discipline of service. Kurt Frisch will lead us in ministry of music. We will celebrate the adult affirmation of faith of Sophia Bryson: see more below about this special occasion. The offering will be for the Ministry Fund. Evening worship: We will welcome back Klaas Walhout to lead us in worship. The offering will be for Baxter Community Center. Adult Affirmation of Faith: The Christian Reformed Church practices infant baptism, and adult participation in the church is marked by making a public profession of faith. Many CRC members do this when they are teenagers or young adults, but some also make profession of faith at a younger age. The CRC recognizes the value and the genuine faith of these professions of faith by children, and recognizes the value of an additional adult affirmation of faith for those who made a profession of faith at a young age. Sophia Bryson was baptized as an infant and professed her faith at age 8, so as she transfers her membership to Calvin Church, she desires to mark this stage in her maturing faith and to testify to God s continued work in her life. She will meet with the Elders this week, and we will celebration this adult affirmation of faith next Sunday. Staff notes: Pastor Rebecca is on vacation through August 12. If you desire pastoral care, please contact your district Elder, Pastor Jake, Pastor Brad, or the church office. CHURCH FAMILY The flowers in front of the sanctuary have been given by John and Ann Shooks in joyful celebration of their 70 th wedding anniversary.
