Memory Verse: Bottom Line: And if I go and prepare a place for you, me. - God gives his people the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can live inside me. Songs: Great Big God Life With Jesus I Like To Coloring Page: God sends the Holy Spirit Resource: The Story for Little Ones, Chapter 28: The Holy Spirit

If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart What You Need: The book If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart? by Jill Roman Lord. Sit with the children and read the book, If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart? by Jill Roman Lord. Jesus told His friends that when He went up to Heaven, God would send another person to help them. This person is the Holy Spirit. He helps us when we are sad and helps us remember to do right. He also prays for us and helps us learn more about God. Do you know what? We cannot see the Holy Spirit! He is with us but we can t see Him. It is like the wind. We cannot see the wind, but we know it is there. (Ask the kids to make a wind sound). We can t see the Holy Spirit, but He helps and wants us to do our best for God. He helps us have love and joy for others. He helps us be kind and gentle to others too.

Add a Flame Activity Page What You Need: Bible people activity page (from website below) and crayons. http://clclutheran.org/sswebsite/newtestament/pentecost/pentecostp.pdf Draw and color a flame on the head of each of those waiting for the Holy Spirit.

Add a Flame What You Need: Picture of Peter, colored flames on cardstock, masking tape and five hula hoops. Tape the picture of Peter to the wall. Place the hula hoops in a row in front of Peter. Give the children one flame and have the children jump from one hoop to another while saying one of the following words, God gave us the Holy-Spirit, (say Holy Spirit together) each time they hop to a different hoop. After jumping to Peter have the children tape the flame to the top of Peter s head. We learned that Jesus had picked some men, called disciples, for special work. After these men saw Jesus go up to heaven, they stayed in the city of Jerusalem praying and praising God while they waited for the Holy Spirit to come to them. Today we learn how Jesus kept His promise of the Holy Spirit. Ten days after Jesus left, the city was crowded with visitors from all over the world. Jesus disciples were together in one house. All at once, the Holy Spirit came to them with some wonderful surprises! First, a loud sound, like a mighty wind, came from heaven and filled the house. Next, a flame, like fire, sat on the head of each of those gathered in the house. Then, the disciples were led by the Holy Spirit to speak in languages that they had never learned! Many people heard the strange sound and hurried toward the house. They were surprised to hear the men telling God s Word in their languages. Peter stood up and talked about Jesus. Peter told those listening that they had killed God s promised Savior on the cross. Peter told them that God raised Jesus from the dead. Then God received Jesus into heaven, showing that Jesus was Ruler over all things. Peter also said that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit as He promised in His Word. Peter told the men to be truly sorry for their sins and be baptized in Jesus name for the forgiveness of their sins. About 3,000 people believed the Word of God that day and were baptized.

Who Has the Fire? What You Need: Picture of a Flame or orange tissue paper balled up to be the fire. Have the children sit in a circle close together. The child who is It stands away from the circle and hides their eyes while the fire is passed around. When It says "STOP!", the child holding the fire hides it (under their leg, up their sleeve, etc.). The child who is It guesses who has the fire. The child who had the fire is now It.

Stand Up What You Need: Questions listed below Introduce today s activity by reviewing the Bible Story. Your review will also help prepare them for this game. Peter How many people believed and were baptized? About 3000 We are going to review the bible story and then play a game. Make sure you listen carefully to the story because we are going to ask you questions during the game about what you learned.
