Pentecost Outpour Week 1... One Spirit Indivisible! TRUTH: The Holy Spirit is God, the Third Person of the Trinity, unique and whole in Himself as God. There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to one hope when you were called one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:4). Of the three Persons of the godhead revealed in the Scriptures God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit is by far the most misunderstood. He is not a second cousin twice removed from God the Father He is God, and we must acknowledge Him and recognize Him in order to receive all He has for us. He is not a will o the wisp or a figment of someone s fevered imagination He is all that God is to us because He is God! Why is it important to understand who the Holy Spirit is? Because it is His power and anointing we pray to receive on Pentecost, and every day. Who is the Holy Spirit to you? Have you always thought of Him as God? Or something else?
Pentecost Outpour Week 2... Your omniscient source of power! TRUTH: The Holy Spirit is an all-knowing source of power for Christians! Because He is God, He is omniscient, He knows the beginning from the end. And part of His role as our Comforter is to pour power into our lives. In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. The power Jesus spoke of here was miracle-working power. He said Christians would receive this power from Holy Spirit infilling. As a result of this divine empowerment, the disciples went about to fulfill the Great Commission, and spread the Gospel to everyone in their world. Are you satisfied with the way God s power manifests in your life now? What Holy Ghost power would you like to see in your daily life?
Pentecost Outpour Week 3... The Holy Spirit prays for you! TRUTH: The Holy Spirit Himself prays for you! Romans 8:27 says, And He who searched our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God s will. Think about the advantages you have when God Himself, in the Person of the Holy Spirit, takes your need to the throne room of heaven and acquires an audience on your behalf regarding whatever you need. Never again allow yourself to be convinced that God doesn t hear and answer your prayers. How could He not, when He Himself prays them for you! What is the Holy Spirit praying for you today? How would you ask Him to pray?
Pentecost Outpour Week 4... Gifts for you! The spirit world has no hands on earth but human ones this is true of evil spirits, and true of God s Holy Spirit, too. TRUTH: The Holy Spirit s miracle-working gifts manifest through believers like you. 1 Corinthians 12:11 says, All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He gives them to each one, just as he determines. The Holy Spirit s work is done through the gifts He has given to men, and some of the most important of these are listed in 1 Corinthians 12 (see verses 39-47). There is no fact outside the realm of His knowledge; there is no obstacle that can withstand His strength; there is no place that He does not continually fill. He alone decides who will benefit from which of the gifts that are His to bestow as He wills. We believe He will pour out these gifts on the Day of Pentecost, June 12 it is less than 2 weeks away! What gifts of the Holy Spirit operate in your life? What gifts would you like to have?
Pentecost Outpouring Week 5... Abundant life in the Spirit! TRUTH: It is the Holy Spirit that gives life! Genesis 2:7 gives us a fascinating insight into the nature of man. God formed man of the dust of the ground (the body), breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (His spirit), and man became a living soul (His soul). God didn t just blow air into Adam He breathed His Spirit into him. We live because the Holy Spirit gives us life and maintains our lives. Without His operation and activity, we would not have either natural or spiritual life. Job 33:4 says, The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Romans 8:11 says, But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. The Holy Spirit is the One who raises us up and gives us life He is the Healer of our bodies and the One who empowers us to walk in His ways. Are you alive in the Holy Spirit? Would you ask Him for more life, more power, more abundance, more vitality? How has He given you life?
