Episcopal Church Women The ECW did not meet on it s regular night. We met after church on May 24th. We decided to cancel the spring luncheon and return to one in the fall. We plan to offer lunches for sale at the yard sale on June 26-27. The ECW voted to donate $25 to Kate Love for clean-up at All Saints. We will also give $50 to a celebration for Sam & Jean Gilkey for his 33 years of service as a deacon, some of those years were served at St. Mary s. We also voted to purchase an additional communion set to be used by Tom Mills. No cards were sent this month. Peace, Gertrude Vestry Meeting Wednesday, June 10th at 6:30 The next Vestry meeting is scheduled for Wed., June 10th at 6:30 pm. (Please note the time of the meeting is 30 minutes later than normal). TRUTH OR CARE One Sunday morning the pastor advised his congregation, Next Sunday I plan to preach about the sin of lying. In preparation for my message, I want you all to read Mark 17. The following Sunday the reverend asked for a show of hands of those who had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The pastor smiled and announced, Well Mark only has 16 chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on lying. Everyone is welcome to join the fellowship. 8. There is a potluck luncheon following the service with enough for visitors. 9. Can t come on Sunday? Try Friday! 10. We would love to see you! We re Having a Birthday!! 2016 will be the centennial celebration of St. Mary s Church in Madisonville and it is time to begin to think about how we will celebrate. While this is a discussion that the Vestry will have we need input from everyone. How do you envision this celebration? Will it be marked by 1, 2, or 3 big events? Will it be an ongoing celebration? How would this look? How do we include: Those who have come before us? The Diocese of Kentucky? The local community? Do we host the Diocesan Convention? As we look back at our history in order to celebrate how do we look forward planting the seeds for the next 100 years? And as we plan, what are you willing to do to help both with our celebration of the past and the planning of our future? This is our celebration and we need the input from everyone. I am so excited to begin this work with all of you! Let s plan our party!! There is a box located in Mills Hall for you to put your thoughts, ideas, visions and suggestions. Looking forward to your feedback.
