The Armour of God Eph 6:11-18 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Altar of Burnt Offering & Laver = Courtyard = feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace Five pillars & veil = loins girt about with truth Table of Shewbread & Candlestick = sword of the Spirit & shield of faith Altar of Incense = all prayer and supplication in the Spirit = breastplate of righteousness Holy Place = shield of faith, breastplate of righteousness, sword of the Spirit = Jesus Christ Ark of the Covenant = Most Holy = Helmet of Salvation
Luk 11:21-22 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. Rom 13:11-14 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, Psa 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? The Way 1 st, the Truth 2 nd, and the Life 3 rd = 3 Doors all represent Christ Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Mar 15:37,38 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. When Christ was crucified, the inner veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom, signifying that the great final sacrifice had been made, and that the system of sacrificial offerings was forever at an end. DA 165 Having established Jesus is the way out of the world (1 st veil) and the 3 rd veil is his life we can conclude that the 2 nd veil is truth. The Way = Jesus has always been the Way He was the way that God created this earth. The Truth = Jesus came with the truth of heaven, Desire of Ages p.57 = First Advent The Life = Jesus will come with gift of eternal life = Second Advent Then let us so live that when he comes he may crown us with glory, honor, immortality, and eternal life. ******* Altar of Burnt Offering & Laver = Courtyard = feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace : Altar of Burnt Offering = We are to live a sacrificial life and die to self. 1Cor. 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. The life of the apostle Paul was a constant conflict with self. He said, "I die daily." 1 Corinthians 15:31. His will and his desires every day conflicted with duty and the will of God. Instead of following inclination, he did God's will, however crucifying to his nature. At the close of his life of conflict, looking back over its struggles and triumphs, he could say, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day." 2 Timothy 4:7, 8. The Christian life is a battle and a march. In this warfare there is no release; the effort must be continuous and persevering. It is by unceasing endeavor that we maintain the victory over the temptations of Satan. Christian integrity must be sought with resistless energy
and maintained with a resolute fixedness of purpose. No one will be borne upward without stern, persevering effort in his own behalf. All must engage in this warfare for themselves; no one else can fight our battles. Individually we are responsible for the issues of the struggle; though Noah, Job, and Daniel were in the land they could deliver neither son nor daughter by their righteousness. MH 453 Laver = Baptism Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Isa 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! ******* 5 Pillars and Hanging (Outer veil) = Loins girt with Truth (5 Pillars = 5 Senses) Exo 36:37-38 And he made an hanging for the tabernacle door of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, of needlework; And the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their chapiters and their fillets with gold: but their five sockets were of brass. Brass was the material used in the courtyard, gold was used in the tabernacle. The 5 pillars were gold set in sockets of brass they were half way between the tabernacle and courtyard- they were not only the connecting link between the tabernacle and courtyard, they were the barrier between them. Courtyard = world Tabernacle = where God dwells (in this illustration the body temple ) Joh 17:15-17 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. So we are in the world but we are not to be of the world! We are to gird up the loins of the mind. 1Pe 1:13-14 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 1Jn 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. We are to guard our senses with truth! Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those who would not fall a prey to Satan's devices, must guard well the avenues of the soul; they must avoid reading, seeing, or hearing that which will suggest impure thoughts. The mind must not be left to dwell at random upon every subject that the enemy of souls may suggest. The heart must be faithfully sentineled, or evils without will awaken evils within, and the soul will wander in darkness. AA p. 518 You will have to become a faithful sentinel over your eyes, ears, and all your senses if you would control your mind and prevent vain and corrupt thoughts from staining your soul. 2T p. 561 All should guard the senses, lest Satan gain victory over them; for these are the avenues to the soul. My Life Today p. 86 **** The Pure Gold Candlestick = The Shield of Faith Exo 37:17 And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick; 1Ki 10:17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; Both Candlestick and Shields made of Beaten Gold Rev 14:12 Here is the patience [endurance bearing trials] of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
1Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Romans 13:10 love is the fulfilling of the law. Ps 19:7-10 The law of the LORD is perfect, More to be desired are they than gold, Pure Gold = Law, Faith, Love 1Tim. 1:5 Now the end [goal] of the commandment [law] is charity [love] out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; The gold that Jesus would have us buy of him is gold tried in the fire; it is the gold of faith and love, that has no defiling substance mingled with it RH 4-1-1890 1 John 5:4 this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Rom. 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 1Tim. 5:12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. So casting off faith = darkness and damnation; putting on armour of light = putting on faith
2Tim. 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Heb. 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Oil was not seen, the flame is the evidence of the oil. 1Sam. 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. Isa 21:5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. Oil = Holy Spirit 1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Jer 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire?... Heb. 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Fire (flame) = Word of God = Faith 1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17. The Scriptures are the great agency in the transformation of character. Christ prayed, "Sanctify them through Thy
truth; Thy word is truth." John 17:17. If studied and obeyed, the word of God works in the heart, subduing every unholy attribute. The Holy Spirit comes to convict of sin, and the faith that springs up in the heart works by love to Christ, conforming us in body, soul, and spirit to His own image. Then God can use us to do His will. The power given us works from within outwardly, leading us to communicate to others the truth that has been communicated to us. Christ Object Lessons p. 100 Table of Shewbread = Sword of the Spirit Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Sword = Word of God Eph. 6:17 the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Bread = Word of God Deut. 8:3 that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Heb 4:12-16 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, Mal 1:7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. 1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
