We have to step forward with new work sprit and organizational values Annual Staff Conference at Cox s Bazar, COAST Trust 31 January, 2017 The annual staff conference was successfully held on 31 January 17 at Cox s Bazar BIAM Auditorium hall room under the slogan-- Human dignity is higher than all. More than 160 staff of the Cox s Bazar region were present there. In the conference the chief speaker was Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Chairperson, Palli Karma- Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), a famous economist. Chief guest was Md. Abdul Karim, Managing Director, PKSF who was former Principal Secretary to the prime minister office. Other distinguish guests were Mr. Dr. Md. Jasim Uddin, DMD, PKSF; Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Al- Kadri, Senior Reporter, BTV and Mrs. Monowara Begum, Executive Director Prattashi. The conference was moderated by M. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Executive Director, COAST Trust. COAST Principal office staff Mr. Sanat K. Bhowmik. Director, Mr. Syed Aminul Hoque, DD- ME&IA, Mr. Mustafa Kamal Akanda, AD-HRM, Mr. Tarik Sayed Harun, AD-CP, Mr. Barequl Islam Chowdhury, Head-Ent.D. Unit; Mr. Abdur Rahman Farid, Head-CO. were present in the conference. The conference started at 9.00am with singing our National Anthem by all. The Executive Director of the organization Rezaul Karim Chowdhury gave the power point presentation highlighting the organization s history, objectives; 3 years plan, mission, vision and activities. The first speaker was DMD,PKSF who said COAST is working from a long time in the coastal areas and they work with accountability and transparency. He also said COAST is working with liberal way

which promoted the organization success and PKSF will provide their support any time if necessary. Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Al-Kadri said they only work for family and father-mother. But we need to work for the society and country. He also advised all staff of COAST Trust to keep the organization value and to do something for the society development. Mr. Md. Abdul Karim, MD of PKSF said that COAST works for the coastal people of remote areas and their development. In future COAST will expand its activities in all remote areas. He also said that no development will be successful without ensuring development of all people especially living in the remote areas. Sustainable development will be possible when all will be engaged. The chief speaker Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Chairperson, PKSF said from now we will avoid the word of Microfinance. He suggested using the term inclusive finance instead of microfinance. The development is not only to give money and to return. We have now to focus on actual development for all. Now we are not officers, we are workers he said. COAST will also keep in mind this thing. I think that the success will be come easily when we work together. Everybody will have to be responsible to his/her duties. Friendly relation will increase the works motion. He said that COAST Trust works with accountability and transparency. It should be continued. If we continue this activity, we will be successful. COAST working area is underprivileged-remote and coastal islands and chars. PKSF will give more attention to these areas with development activities. After that Mr. Ahmad gave answer to the question of Mr. Tarik Sayed Harun,AD-CP and Rumpa Datta, FF-SEEDS. Mr. Ahmad said that PKSF has a special matrix to measurement development to support the partner organization (PO) in where education, health, income and communication are the better indicators. In response to a question of Rumpa Datta, he said that PKSF is also working for adolescent girls and boys. We will undertake new program in the coastal areas for adolescent girls and boys which can be implemented by COAST.

Mr. Ahmad appreciated COAST is working for women empowerment and gender activities. He said that PKSF always supports ethical and economical issues of the organization. The development will be ensured quickly if the transparency and accountability are ensured, he said. In the second session: Mr. Tauhidul Alam, SC-ICT, Cox s Bazar, gave a presentation on the use of Face Book. After then all participants discussed about Face Book merits & demerits to build a small groups. Executive Director spoke about some guidelines for the use of Face Book which were- a) A face book user can t use it in office time except on emergency case b) It should be used for social development not only for personal expansion c) Do not use face book to express personal emotion and in a day only one post will be included d) As a COAST staff s/he will complain through COAST complaint response mechanism which is very easy but not use face book post. e) He also said that human dignity is higher than all. So everybody has independent right in his/her religion. For that reason nobody should give any post to hurt religious sentiments of others. f) As a COAST staff everyone should obey the face book rules. g) Face book password can be hacked so we should use hard password. A question of Shahinur Islam, health assistant, ENRICH was can we publish/post the family group picture in face book? ED said if you wish we can do this. Nur Ahmad wanted to know how can he know that his password is hacked. Answer by Tauhidu lalam: If you have seen any post which you did not post the you can understand that your password has been hacked. Zaheda Begum wanted to know what she could do if she forget the password. Tauhidul Alam said at first try to follow password direction.

Didarul Islam, BM, KDS want to know if there is any plan to give training on face book use? ED said that we have no plan for training at this time everybody should best try to use it and learn with own initiatives. office. Anwar Hossain-BM wanted to know if they can use face book at ED replied that only emergency case it is possible. Such as accident and blood searching moment you can post in office. Sajal Kumar Shil, BM,MKS wanted to know which kind of action will be taken if anybody post unsocial something. ED said that s/he will be dismissed for this. After that Mrs. Sakidabegum, BA and Mrs. Mohsena Begum-BA presented the OCAST Gender Policy. Then it was discussed in short groups. Moinuddin, CDO wanted to kwon if anybody put on gender sensitive dress how we can remove from them? ED said, nobody will put on gender sensitive dress. S/he will put on dress according to social norms and values. We should use dress which is easy to work movement. In this purpose AD-CP told that in our religious instruction is that Keep your eyes to save gender sensitive thinks. Razaul Karim, PO-SEEDS wanted to know if anybody punished by force without any causes then, is it possible to appeal to the organization? ED said yes, it was possible to submit appeal by given Tk:2000/= Sajal Kumar Shil, BM, MKS wanted to know how many members (male & female) will be in the investigation committee? Director told that we have planned all members will be female in future. At the last session Syed Aminul Hoque, DD spoke about our promises of year 2017. He mentioned that everyone has some

objectives. We have done these promises for our personal life or institutional life. Our organization setup has some promises for the year 2017 which are: a) Brutally honest b)ethical Loyal c)uncompromised discipline d) Unquestionable Integrity and e) Positive thinking Director of COAST said that if we haven t any confidence in a person we can t positive mind on him/her. At least 6 months required to get result from anybody. In this time s/he will have to pass four steps which are- 1.Forming 2. Storming 3. Norming and 4.Performing. Mrs. Sapli Das.CDO said that she had been working for 4 years in another organization but there was no staff conference. So she enjoyed this conference. For this she is grateful to the organization. Mr. Saiful Islam, CDO expressed that he hasn t found such type of conference before, so he is grateful to the organization. Mr. Kurban Ali, BM Ukhiya said that he was happy to join this conference because here they could meet with all by this program. He also said if they do work together then they have more scopes to learn. Mr. Md. Alam, RPC gave thanks to all to obey the discipline in the conference. He also gave thanks to the organization management. Mr. Zahangir Alam, PM(InC_SEEDS said that they have found new motion from this conference. Mr.Md. Shafiuddin, RTL (InC) in his speech said they should move their position from down to up to achieve organization s benefit. Mr. Tarik Sayed Harun said that they have now slowly achieved skill. He gave thanks those who were involved to succeed the conference.

Mr. Mustafa Kamal Akanda said more efficiency. We have done hoped that the next conference will that they have achieved activities together. He be completed by the Area Manager. Mr. Syed Aminul Hoque said the conference is an emotionally matter to meet with all field staffs. Director said that our salary has been increased so we have to need to save some money for future better life. Executive Director told the staff the man who s salary is lower he will try to keep more money for future. We have to stop the unused expenses. We have changed our worked motion. We have given a justice salary structure in which a staff would be able to purchase a house after 20 years of job duration. After fulfilling the evaluation format which was supplied to all for giving comments on positive and negative issues of the organization as well as supervisor, the Cox s Bazar region annual staff conference 17 was ended through singing the song of Aguner Porosmoni--.
