Order of Service Call to Worship (TLH 149:1; sung by Pastor) Come to Calvary s holy mountain, Sinners, ruined by the Fall; Here a pure and healing fountain Flows for you, for me, for all, In a full, perpetual tide, Opened when our Savior died. Come to see the Lamb that is offered For the sins of one and all. Wounded for the ones who are straying, Those He prays will heed the call. Come and worship even now, Let us all before Him bow. Invocation (C: Sing Amen) Opening Hymn Confession of Sins C: O Lord, our dear Heavenly Father, we must confess that we all like sheep have gone astray. We have all turned, every one of us, to his own way. Our thoughts, our words, and our actions have not reflected the love You demand in Your law. We confess that we have sinned against You and our fellowmen. We acknowledge with sorrow but also with joy the fact that You have laid on Jesus the iniquity of us all. We are truly sorry for our sins and pray that You would indeed forgive us for Jesus sake. We pray that You would strengthen us, so that we might go and sin no more. P: God, our Heavenly Father, has indeed laid all of our iniquities on Jesus. He is the Lamb who was slain to take away our sins and the sins of the whole world. Your Heavenly Father wants you to know and believe with confidence that you are forgiven. Therefore, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, I assure you that your sins have been forgiven. Amen. 2
Responsive Reading (Taken from John 1:29 and Isaiah 53:4-5, 7-8) P: Behold Jesus! C: The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! P: Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; C: Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. P: But He was wounded for our transgressions, C: He was bruised for our iniquities. P: The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, C: And by His stripes we are healed. P: He was oppressed and He was afflicted, C: Yet He opened not His mouth. P: He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, C: And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. P: He was taken from prison and from judgment, C: And who will declare His generation? P: For He was cut off from the land of the living; C: For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. Liturgical Hymn: The Lamb See insert. (Stanzas 1-2 sung by Pastor with the congregation joining for the Refrain; stanzas 3-4 sung by congregation.) Passion History According to John Musical Response: Lamb of God, Pure and Holy (TLH 146:1 or Choral Selection when available) Lamb of God, pure and holy, Who on the cross did suffer, Ever patient and lowly, Yourself to scorn did offer. All sins You carried for us, else had despair reigned o'er us: Have mercy on us, O Jesus! O Jesus! 3
Confession of Faith: Luther s Explanation 2nd Article I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord. He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sin, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and His innocent suffering and death. He did this that I should be His very own, live under Him in His kingdom, and serve Him in eternal righteousness, innocence, and joy; just as He is risen from death, lives and reigns in eternity. This is most certainly true. Hymn Meditation Offertory: On My Heart Imprint Your Image (TLH 179) On my heart imprint Your image, blessed Jesus, King of grace, That life's riches, cares, and pleasures never may Your work erase; Let the clear inscription be: Jesus, crucified for me, Is my life, my hope's foundation, and my glory and salvation. Offering Prayer Lord s Prayer (Sung by congregation) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Benediction (C: Sing Amen) Hymn 4

Hymn: 344 Come, Let Us Join Our Cheerful Songs Meditation Text: Revelation 5:11-14 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing! And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever! Then the four living creatures said, Amen! And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
