ANNEX 1B: PRAYER GUIDELINES FOR THE PASSOVER SEASON a. Come before the LORD for a spiritual examination. Allow the Spirit of God to search and examine you (use Psalms 139) b. Take time and pray confessing the great work the God has done through Christ on the Cross. Use Exod. 15:1-21; Isaiah 53:1-11; Hebrew 10:19ff; & Psalms 91 as follows: We draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. We hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised). We consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. c. We commit our bodies, souls and spirits as living sacrifices to the LORD (I Cor. 5:8; Romans 6:4). d. Lament for those that have fallen in transgression and sin; and are being restored (II Samuel 1). e. Pray for those that are backsliding and are caught up in rebellion. f. Pray and repent for as a Church we have we have gone backward especially regarding our mandate to be a house of prayer for all nations (use Lamentations 5). g. Pray against the spirit of deception, which is providing a catalyst for many to compromise on their faith (Matt. 24; 7:15ff & James 19-26). h. Pray that God should restore CIC to her original mandate as a house of prayer for all nations and as a mission-oriented church (Isa. 56). i. Pray for the unsaved (family members, relatives, friends, workmates) that the Holy Spirit should open their eyes to see Christ as the only solution to mankind, the Hope of Glory. j. a. Pray the LORD of the Harvest to send labourers in the field for the harvest is ready (Matt. 9:37-38). b. Pray that God should grant unto His servants, that with all boldness they may speak His word; and that He should stretch forth His hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:29; Joel 2). c. Pray for the members to affect their environment as yeast affects the entire dough (Matt. 13:36). Pray for members to uphold their faith and the Kingdom of God above anything else (Matt. 13:44-45). e. Present the borders of these nations and their gates to the Lord that God should guard them. Set an embargo against any importation of demonic things that will affect the prosperity of these nations. Pray for the peace of these nations. Use Isa. 60:17-18. Pray that the Lord will restore what the enemy (devil) stole from these nations through economic mismanagement, etc. Pray for the protection of those in leadership (the President, cabinet ministers, etc). Pray that the leaders will lead these nations in the fear of the Lord. Use I Timothy 2:1-3; Job 20; Isa. 28:15-22; 47. 3
Pray that Jesus will be LORD of these nations. That Jesus Christ will be enthroned in the hearts of all political leaders, traditional leaders, civil leaders and the rest of the people. Pray for the Church projects in your local and national churches, e.g. Chirimba Church Building; Bangwe Church Building; Zomba Church Building; Area 47 Church Building, Mzuzu Church Building and Area 25 Church Building in Malawi; acquisition property for CIC in Los Angeles, USA, acquisition of church plot in Lesotho, etc. and that the Lord will stir the hearts of His people to give towards the completion of these projects (include other projects in respective nations and branches). f. Pray for other ministries and churches that fellowship with you. Pray that the LORD will visit them and minister His love, power and presence. ANNEX 1E: PRAYER FOR NATIONS UNDERGOING CIVIL AND POLITICAL INSTABILITY; AND EFFECTS OF NATURAL DISASTERS 4
Recently we have witnessed a wave of civil and political instability in Ivory Coast, North Africa, East Africa (Somalia and Sudan) and the Middle East; and petty bickering in Malawi. In addition, natural disasters are on the rise, the recent being the earth quakes in New Zealand, Japan and Burma; and tsunami in Japan which has also triggered a nuclear disaster. 1. Pray for forgiveness concerning bloodguilt The LORD said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.[you have come] to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel... (Gen 4:10 : Heb 12:24) Father we acknowledge our guilt of bloodshed in our nation. We confess that the voices of many people s blood are crying to You from this land. We repent of the fact that we have filled this land with blood as a result of the civil and political instability. We ask You for the cleansing of the blood of Jesus, and that the blood of sprinkling in heaven will speak on behalf of ( country), to bring forgiveness, healing and restoration in our land. For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life. (Lev 17:11) Father God, the Author of Life, we acknowledge and confess that we have treated life with little respect. We ask for forgiveness and pray that You will restore in us the respect for life and treat people as creatures that carry Your life-giving breath. 2. Pray for God s righteousness to reign in these nations a. Destroy the covering and veil cast over the people and these nations (Isa. 25:7). b. May God rain righteousness on these nations; and may salvation spring up in these nations (Isa. 45:8). c. May these nations and people look to the Desire of All Nations (Haggai 2:6-7). 3. Pray for revival in the church in these nations a. revival, renewal, reformation and restoration. b. pastors to return to their first love, a new intimacy with God, a deeper understanding of His character and His will for their lives. c. passion for souls in the church - to see unsaved people coming to Christ. d. God to pour out His Spirit of prayer and supplication on the church. e. Christians in the marketplace to live as ministers of the gospel in the marketplace. f. the anointing of the Holy Spirit on preaching. g. the church to become involved in the social needs of people in all spheres of life. 3. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem a. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and that they that love her should prosper (Psalm 122). b. Pray that peace and prosperity will be within the walls of Jerusalem. c. Pray that the righteousness of Jerusalem will go forth as brightness and her salvation as a lamp that burns (Isaiah 62:1-12). ANNEX 1F: PRAYER FOR THE YOUTH MOBILISATION AND REGROUPING PROGRAMME 1. Pray for forgiveness of sins of the youth pride, bitterness of heart and hatred. 5
2. Break yokes and bondages of wickedness; and oppressive spirits affecting the youth such as bitter envy and self-seeking (Isa. 58:6). 3. Sound the alarm for the mobilization and regrouping of the youth: a. Those that are dead and dried up because of indifference, frustration, compromise, etc will wake up (Ezek. 37:1-14). b. Pray that the youth will be strong, love the word of God and overcome the devil (II John 2:14; Psalms 119:11). c. Pray that the youth will use their glory (strength) for the work of the Lord and that the devil shall not manipulate them (Prov. 20:29). d. Pray that the youth will learn to cry to Jesus the keeper of their youth whenever they are confronted with pleasures of this world. That they will endeavour to keep themselves pure like Daniel and his friends in Babylon or Joseph in Egypt (use Prov. 2:1-5). e. Pray that the youth (especially boys) shall not fret to get quick riches (Prov. 1:10-19). f. Pray that youth shall not sell their right in Christ by giving in to sexual immorality (especially girls) because of money. g. Pray for singles that they will celebrate their singlehood as God-given to serve Him with undivided zeal and attention. h. Pray for singles that they will yield to the counsel of the Holy Spirit and Pastors when it comes to marriage issues (II Chro. 20:20). 6
