Twenty-seventh Sunday in ordinary time page two My Dear Friends, Last Sunday s pastor s le er s subject, Our Lady of the Rosary, whose Feast Day was celebrated on October 7 th. The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the Rosary, an epitome of the whole Gospel, express this devo on to the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends His Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 971, 2679.) Anyone who knows six easy prayers can pray a Rosary; you will also need to know twenty Mysteries to meditate upon as you pray. The Rosary begins with the Apostles Creed, followed by one Our Father, three Hail Marys (tradi onally offered for an increase in faith, hope, and charity for those praying the Rosary), a Glory Be, and, if desired, the Fa ma Prayers. Next come five mysteries, each consis ng of one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, a Glory Be, and, if desired, the Fa ma Prayers. Conclude with the Hail Holy Queen. Please say a few extra prayers a er the Hail Holy Queen for the Pope. h p//:www.catholicity.com There is that place in life where you feel like you have everything that you ve ever wanted and that everything is just the way you always thought that it would be. That is the kind of peace, happiness, and fulfillment that God wants for all us. That is the kind of fulfillment that comes through love, prayer, and unity with God. We are truly blessed if we can know and understand all the wonders of love; what it can overcome, and what it can become. God made us and our hearts are made for God. God has ins lled in each of us a desire for truth, for peace, and for love. These longings are completely fulfilled only when we are united with God. Living the fullness of our Catholic faith will bring us to that unity. Praying the Holy Rosary of the Roman Catholic Church is one of the best ways to achieve that unity. (Excerpted from http://www.rosary.com) Prayerfully, Father Patrick V. Kirsch KHS Pastor
