Dear Friends, It was December and another Christmas was at our throats. The English Humorist, P. G. Wodehouse, thus described the unholy frenzy that too often accompanies the approach of December 25, and it is a sentiment most of us can readily understand. To avoid succumbing to that feeling, we need to see what the Grinch perceived with wonder from the summit of Mount Crumpit: that Christmas... came without ribbons; it came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And the very best way to arrive at this insight is to keep a holy Advent. We can attend the Parish Mission, celebrate the Sacrament of Penance, be willing to truly be a servant and help someone in need. We now have four weeks in which to ponder the profound mystery of Christ coming to us for our salvation. December is upon us, but another Christmas need not be at our throats. It can be in our hearts with joy beyond all telling, if we prepare with a worthy Advent! God bless, Fr. Chandler The Louisville Chorus will be here today, Sunday, December 3, at 3:00 p.m., to present Carols of the Nativity! This year they will be joined by Oldham County High School Choirs (Cantamus & Chorale). In gratitude to our parish for hosting the concert, parishioners are invited to take advantage of a buy one, get one free offer for regularly priced tickets: $22/adult; $18/senior; $5/student. On Saturday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a Fall Festival wrap-up party in Bethany Hall. We will be discussing the 2017 Fall Festival and starting plans for the 2018 Fall Festival. This is a potluck (meat and desserts provided) and BYOB event. Be sure to wear your ugliest Christmas clothes (not just sweaters) and bring a wrapped ornament to exchange! You must RSVP by calling the parish office or e-mailing fallfestival@iclagrange.org by December 4, to attend. THE WHOLE GANG WILL BE HERE! Come join us December 10, as the Wilderness Trial Players bring Scrooge, his ghosts, Tiny Tim and the whole gang to Immaculate Conception! Tickets for the show: $10/adults; $7/children 6-16; $30 family ticket (good for mom, dad and all the kids, 6-16). There is no cost for those younger than 6. Showtime is 3 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Spaghetti lunch at 2 p.m. Cost for the lunch: $7/adults (13+), $5 children (6-12), ages 5 and under eat free!
