SEPTEMBER 2018 From Pastor Gary... The summer vacation period will soon be over and the sound of school buses will soon be heard. During the summer most churches experience a drop off in the their attendance due to summer sports programs and family vacations. However, here at Balfour, we have experienced a summer period where our numbers have actually increased. I am so excited with what God is doing here at Balfour. We have seen several families and individuals choose to become members. We have just finished a new member orientation class and will start another one this Sunday. We have been working hard to get ready for this fall. Most will recognize a new coat of paint upstairs in the Sunday School area as well as in our children's area. With the increased number of children coming on Sunday morning, we are working to take additional steps to provide a quality time for all the children to receive biblical instruction. We are in the process of developing a growing youth program and Sunday School Class for them in the church. Our Awana's is gearing up for an exciting new year where I believe we will see an increase in numbers. I am also excited about our new Discipleship Class that will meet in the J.L. Benson class room on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour. We are blessed to have Andy Smith teaching and leading that class. I have set the date of August 30 th at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall for a very important Church Council Meeting. I need for the leadership of the church to be there. We will be discussing our future and casting a vision as we move forward. It is a challenging and a very exciting time to be part of Balfour Baptist Church. From Pastor Mark... Praise The Lord and again I say let s PRAISE THE LORD! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! As you can tell I m just a little excited for what the Lord is doing here at Balfour! I hope that you are experiencing the moving of the Holy Spirit as God is doing an amazing thing with us and through us? Just wanted to let you know that Wanda and I are so blessed to be here at Balfour and for your love and kindness that you have shown to us for our anniversary. To know that you are where God has placed you in Ministry and the people of God has that same feeling of His Spirit moving is just amazing to watch what God is doing for all of us. We have seen an amazing increase in the children s church area, nursery, and even in our youth program, with that being said I thank God for the help that Emily provided this summer and with the work of the summer program we had. We pray that Emily has a great year in school as she has moved back to college this past week. People tell me that we are having great problems with all the activity that we have going on, I can agree with them partly on that, but as we grow we re going to need help with all the growth here around Balfour. My prayer is that God will raise up His people that know how important it is to help reach folks for His Kingdom as He blesses Balfour Baptist Church! ( can I get an AMEN!) I do want to thank all the folks who are working so hard in the children s ministry with children s church and the start of Awana in just a few weeks, so as the school year kicks off let s be in PRAYER not only for the Church but also for our teachers, students, and all the school staff even right down to the bus drivers! (Amen) In closing, I want to ask if you would continue to PRAY for the Church Staff and that God will continue to pour out His Spirit to us as we continue to do HIS will here at Balfour? There will be some bumps in the road that we are traveling on, but with His grace and forgiveness in our hearts toward one another there s nothing we cannot do through the Holy Spirit s leading and our obedience to His promises and love He has for each one of us! God Bless and keep looking up cause He s coming to take us home one day! Serving Him and Trusting You,

PRAYER POCKET NOTES. "Being" redeemed Colossians 1:13-14 He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Redemption is the salvation from sin through Jesus's sacrifice that He made on the cross. Sin - (what we need redemption from and forgiveness of) the bondage that keeps us from having an intimate relationship with God. BUT - Jesus paid the price to set us free from that bondage by His sacrificial death on the cross. Romans 3:23-24 For there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Being redeemed includes eternal life, forgiveness of sins and righteousness among many other things. I guess you could look at "being redeemed" in the same way we looked at fire. We see the fire and we know what can happen if we go near the fire and how we can walk away from the fire, but Jesus gave us the way to put out the fire.
