AUGUST 2018 From Pastor Gary... We are now over halfway through the summer vacation period. God has continued to pour out His blessings on Balfour Baptist Church. While our ministry is not really about specific numbers, it does help us to realize that many are visiting here at our church. Pray that the work will always be about God and His kingdom. Pray that the Word of God will be preached and that God's love will be felt by all who come here. This past Sunday, I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit moving among the people. Folks, that is the key! The presence of God and His Spirit is what will move and make Balfour into a strong church for his glory. We have much to be done and sometimes it is over- whelming, but it is also so very exciting to see God working in our midst. I thank God for a very successful VBS this year. Our director, Patricia Underwood, did an outstanding job in placing our people in places of service in order to reach lives with the gospel message. We also had a wonderful Mission Outreach in Honduras where many people's lives have been changed for eternity. What a privilege to be a part of sharing the love of God with our Mission Team. Brother Jay Smith was used by God to lead this very successful ministry opportunity. Let's keep on keeping on. Let's keep our focus on Him and trust Him as we move forward. May God grow the church as lives are won to Him and all of us are strengthened in the faith through the power of his word. Rev. Gary Mason From Pastor Mark... Greetings, Praying all is well with you and that the Lord is pouring out His blessings upon you and your family! Just wanted to say that the Lord is truly blessing us here at Balfour and we can see it Sunday mornings and throughout the rest of the week. What a blessing to see all the children that the Lord has brought to us and the opportunity to share His Word with them and their families. With that being said I could use your help with staffing the nursery, children s church, Wednesday night and Sunday night services here at Balfour. I ask that you would pray about it and let the Lord guide you in your decision of when and where you could be used in this need. We have some things in the works for Sunday mornings and Sunday school also (where help is needed also) so if you would be willing to get on board to help would you give me a call or speak to me after service. I don t think it would be too far fetch to say that we may see an increase in our Awana program this year (would you help me in praying for this?). Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. As we continue to grow with God s blessing, our needs are going to continue to change with the needs of meeting our new challenges and I hope that those new challenges will inspire you to come and join us in serving those needs? I believe that God is wanting to do more for us here at Balfour if we are willing to step up and out of our comfort zone to serve Him in serving others as HE blesses us! If you are like myself you know people out there who go to church and wish they could see their church being blessed like we are here at Balfour, so would you join me in prayer for Gods guidance in these areas of ministry? May God continue to bless Balfour and your family as we seek His face in growing His Kingdom. Let s put our shoulder to the plow and see what God has in store for us, it s exciting times of blessings at Balfour and Praise be to God for that in doing His will. Trusting Him and Serving You, Pastor Mark

We are thankful for our church family and blessed to be a part of such a loving church. God s blessings for each one of you. Jeff and Sandra Spainhour PRAYER POCKET NOTES. Prayer can be hard Real prayer is not an activity limited to a time slot in our day, but an ongoing relationship with the living God. In her book, Live a Praying Life, Jennifer Kennedy Dean describes prayer like this: Prayer is opening our lives to God, acknowledging our total dependence on Him. It is an attitude of receptivity in which we live every moment. It is being open to Him at all times It is living in the presence of God always in the process of being reshaped and recreated by Him. We all need focused prayer, but when we find ourselves praying all during the day; at home, at work, while driving and even doing the dishes; it is then we find the intimacy that develops over time with our Lord and Savior. It is then we realize we are living in the presence of God and He is reshaping us. If you would like more information on Prayer Pocket Ministries or would like a prayer pocket, please contact us at prayerpockets@gmail.com HONORARIUMS Donations were given in honor of Leonard & Lounette Ingold by The Faith Sunday School Class for The Baptist Children's Home & Hospital Offering.
