G ATHER C ONFESSION & A SSURANCE CALL TO CONFESSION (Hebrews 4:15 16) Mike Boyd...we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Join me as we draw near his throne of grace and confess together. PRAYER OF CONFESSION (based on RCA Order of Worship ) Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we are to pray, and to give more than we desire or deserve; pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy; forgive us for the things that weigh heavy on our conscience today. Give us those good things which we are not worthy to ask for, those things at that are ours through the worth and work of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. SILENT REFLECTION WORDS OF ASSURANCE Hear the good news from Hebrew 10:19 22 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus... let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. PEOPLE: Thanks be to God! 4

G ATHER O FFERING Liturgist: Brad Carpenter OFFERING Song: Lord, I Need You [V1] Lord, I come, I confess Bowing here I find my rest And without You I fall apart You're the One that guides my heart [Chorus 1] Lord, I need You, oh I need You Ev'ry hour I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You [Bridge] So teach my song to rise to You When temptation comes my way And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus You're my hope and stay And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus You're my hope and stay [V2] Where sin runs deep Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are And where You are Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me Where You are Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me Words/Music by Christy Nockels, Daniel Carson, Jesse Reeves, Kristian Stanfill, Matt Maher Used with permission. G ATHER P RAYERS PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE (Psalm 13 & Philippians 4) Brad Carpenter O Lord, we are familiar with anxiety, we are often undone. We are familiar with fear, loneliness, anger and frailty... Hear us, O Lord. From all that threatens what is precious: our families, our communities, our friends, our values, Save us, O Lord. From grief that overwhelms us at the loss of those dear, and grief for an innocence we cannot recover, Save us, O Lord. From enemies we do not understand and who wish to harm us, Save us, O Lord. From cynicism and despair, from anger and lust for retribution, from self righteousness and easy conscience, Save us, O Lord. From loss of faith, where we no longer trust in your love, but give ourselves over to the rages of our heart and our world, Save us, O Lord. Come to us, abide with us. We cannot live save but with you. Come to us, O Lord, Emmanuel. (Silence) PSALM 13 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I bear pain in my soul, And have sorrow in my heart all day long? But we trust in your steadfast love; May our hearts rejoice in your salvation, We will sing to the Lord, Because he has dealt bountifully with us. Send us the peace of God that surpasses understanding Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus GRACEKIDS PRAYER ALL: May God be with you as you worship GraceKids: And also with you PASSING OF THE PEACE LEADER: The peace of Christ be with you PEOPLE: And also with you MINISTRY MOMENT 6

W ORD Title: Threats to Joyful Living Text: Philippians 4:1 9 Preacher: Daniel Yoon S CRIPTURE R EADING & S ERMON SCRIPTURE READING Colleen Murphy > Please stand if you are able for a reading from God s Holy Word. Today s Scripture reading is from Philippians 4:1 9. Please read with me the verses in blue. [1] Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. [2] I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. [3] Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. [4] Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. [5] Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; [6] do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. [9] What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. L: This is the Word of the Lord P: Thanks be to God 7

T ABLE T HE L ORD S S UPPER INVITATION & WORDS OF INSTITUTION Daniel Yoon > Communion Servers: Brad Carpenter, Daniel Yoon, Mike Boyd, Mark Lee > Prayer Minister(s): Kris Backus, Kris Glass [ Standing in back during communion ] SUGGESTED PRAYERS DURING THE TABLE Prayer for those searching for truth Lord Jesus, you claimed to be the way, the truth, and the life. As I search for spiritual truth, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the life you promise. Amen. Prayer of belief Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Trusting in God's love and in your death and resurrection on my behalf, I ask you to forgive me, merciful Lord, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Relying upon your grace, I promise to confess you publicly before others, to serve you daily and walk in your way. Amen. Prayer of commitment Lord Jesus, you called your disciples to be baptized and follow your commandments. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to become one with you and with your church, and live in the fullness of your Spirit. Amen. SONG OF RESPONSE Worship Team Song: In Christ Alone [V1] In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My comforter, my all in all Here in the love of Christ I stand [V2] In Christ alone, Who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save 'Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For ev'ry sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live [V3] There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ [V4] No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the pow'r of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand 'Til He returns or calls me home Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand Words/Music by Keith Getty, Stuart Townend Used with permission.
