I VE BEEN THINKING The Catholic Ministries Appeal Each of our personal gifts to the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) funds crucial ministries here at St. Theodore s as well as throughout our 12 County Diocese of Rochester. Our goodwill and our generosity is one expression of our baptismal commitment to participate actively as God s people in the mission of our Catholic Church. Through your generous donation: We can nurture our children and teens in Catholic values and practices through our Faith Formation Programs, Youth Ministry and CYO. The CMA also supports our college ministry programs for our young parishioners. We can provide education to men who express a desire to be parish priests. We can help families who are in need of emergency services, addiction recovery programs, or domestic violence counseling through our Catholic Charities agencies. We can help engaged couples prepare for God-centered marriages rooted in Christian values. Our pre-cana programs and materials are supported by the CMA. We can promote the Gospel message of Life in our society that is all too often torn apart by violence, The CMA supports our Church s pro-life activities such as Project Rachel. We can properly prepare people in our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) who wish to become Catholic. We can help prepare Permanent Deacons with their deaconal education. Our goal is $61,390. Thanks to all who have already contributed. Please consider your donation! Our CMA Campaign Prayer O God, our living Creator and giver of all good gifts, bless our parish, strengthen our faith and grant us the spirit of Christian Stewardship so that we may give generously of our time, talent, and treasure to the building of Your Kingdom here in our church and throughout the world. We pray for your help in achieving success in this campaign so we can help others throughout our diocese. This we ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen. Peace & Love,

Grades 6-8: Parents are invited to join the students and teachers in Faith Formation on Monday, October 20 for a talk/discussion on our Catholic Belief that there is Life after Death and what Heaven will be like with God, presented by Sr. Kate Kanick, RSM. Some students have been asking questions so I decided to take this opportunity to have someone talk to them on this subject and answer questions about death. Students should go to their classrooms for attendance, and parents are asked to meet us in church at 7:00 p.m. I hope you will make every effort to join us! CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT Since Kathy Douglas has relocated to Florida, we are in need of an adult volunteer to direct our annual Children's Christmas Pageant. Some of the responsibilities will involve writing the script, selecting songs, scheduling and directing practices and assigning parts for the children. We have the costumes and props. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact Maureen Piehler at 429-5650. Safe Environment Training is required and will be provided if needed. All voice parts, soprano, alto, tenor & bass, are needed. Christmas music rehearsals are at 8:00 p.m. on the following dates: November 5, 12, 19, and December 3, 9, & 17. Please call our pastoral musician, Rita Manners, at 429-6811 or e-mail rmanners@dor.org. PARENTS OF CATHOLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN/TEENS Please call the Faith Formation Office at 429-5650 to give us your child's name, address and grade so we can include you in our mailings for sacramental programs, grade level masses and other programs we offer. Many schools do not provide this information, so we depend on your help in order for us to include your child(ren) in our parish programs. WHAT S IN A GODPARENT? - Choosing a godparent for a child is one of the most important decisions a parent makes for that child s life! The Church s hope is that a godparent will be a life-long example and companion for the child s journey of faith. Much thought and prayer, then, is needed to pick the person(s) who will best fulfill that role. The Church requires that a godparent be a fully initiated Catholic through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist; actively practicing our faith through weekly worship at mass and striving to live according to God s way every day. The Church also requires only one godparent, although most couples prefer to ask two. Call Sister Cathy at 429-6811 for an initial interview. Then plan to attend our next group session on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. Godparents are asked to attend as well, since part of this meeting helps them understand their role and responsibilities. WORLD MISSION SUNDAY-Next weekend our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday. This year we are invited to reach out and help build the Church in Mongolia, the world s youngest Catholic Church, as well as local churches throughout the Missions, in the most remote areas across our world. Through the work of these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor receive practical help and experience God s love and mercy, His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your daily prayers. Please come prepared next weekend to give generously in the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. For more information, please visit www.iamamissionary.org. The sanctuary lamp will burn in the Eucharistic Chapel this week for: Danny & Daniel Uttaro Req. Family
