We had 38 members friends and visitors at the meeting. The guest speaker was Vic Dowling, a local person who has a property on range Road which he bought when he moved down here from Adelaide a number of years ago. Vic told us of his adventures when he decided to sell an interest in his property and go sailing. His voyages took him to the Mediterranean area and then further on. It was during these trips that he became a 50 year plod backpacker. He told us of some of his adventures and some of the people he met during this time. He still maintains contact with some of these people. A very interesting talk by a very adventurous person. One of our other guests was IIbrahim Ali, a representative from the RYLA committee in Adelaide. Other guests included several Rotary Partners and other friends. President Mark inducted Julie Irwin into the Club and Julie was welcomed by all present. Julie Irwin with Sergeant Jeff McEvoy and President Mark Cox.
Ibrahim Ali with Stewart Cummings President Mark with Vic Dowling Christmas is Coming, So is the Pageant. Ideas to improve the float are required. Members are required to help construct the float later in the year. Please contact David Jenkins with ideas and offers of help.
The Coffee Morning at the Library Coffee Shop was well attended by a very good number of Rotarians and friends. It is always good to see Jan Sheehan at these gatherings. One of our Fred Heddle scholars, Imi Dunn, was present as she is unable to be present when we meet with the Fred Heddle Scholars on august 15 due to lecture commitments with her Vet. Science Course. These lectures are held at the Roseworthy Campus of the University. We were also able to inspect the new vehicle for the Medi Ride organisation. When the original vehicle was purchased the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor provided a large sum to sponsor the purchase of the vehicle. Through careful financial management Scots has been able to provide a new vehicle and we are still classed as a sponsor of the new vehicle. President Mark with Imi Dunn The New Scots Vehicle.
