For: Sunday, April 12, 2015 Love One Another Lesson: I John 3:11-24 GOLDEN TEXT: For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another (John 3:11). TODAY S AIM: To learn how love is the evidence and demonstration of true Christian living. INTRODUCING THE LESSON: The Apostle John, known as the disciples whom Jesus loved (John 21:7), set forth God s teaching on what true brotherly love is. We see that clearly in this week s lesson. PRACTICAL POINTS: 1. Christian love must be genuine not superficial (I John 3:11-12). 2. The believer cannot allow hatred to take root and destroy himself and others. 3. The love of God sets us apart from the world and for His service (I John 3:13-18). 4. Christian love is action not just an emotion or attitude. 5. Christian love is evidence of genuine faith (I John 3: 19-21). 6. Obedient living leads to confidence in prayer (I John 3:22). 7. Genuine faith is the basis of obedience to God s Word (I John 3:23-24). 11:00 A M The Grace Memorial Baptist Church 1100 North Eden Street - Baltimore, Maryland 21213 Reverend Irvin Pope, Senior Pastor Reverend Marshall Barnes, Acting Pastor CONCLUDING THE LESSON: A godly love is the evidence of being a child of God. If a person s heart is constantly filled with hate, he cannot be God s child. Even those of us who are His children, however, may still commit the sin of not loving others as we should. God is willing to restore us when we confess, determine to obey His commands, and live for His glory. This enables us to pray effectively and be assured of His abiding presence.
