CLASS OVERVIEW Over the next several days, we as a class will explore how to take our faith in God to the next level. We will examine through scripture and spiritual interactions, how God created us as spiritual beings for His Glory. We will see that we are more than human flesh with human EXPERIENCES. But, we are Divine Vessels, created by God Himself. We will dismantle our earthly concepts, philosophies, ideas, traditional thinking, and opinions about our definitions of Faith, to replace them with the essence of God s Authority to transform lives and change situations that will align with God s glory for our lives. Trusting in God can sometimes be difficult because He sometimes does not give us what we ask for right away. We receive what we need through love, faith, and patience. The waiting part is usually the test that stretches and increases our faith to a new level. 2
THE ESSENCE OF THIS CLASS IS BASED ON That God loves me That the resurrection is real Jesus died for our sins There is a divine correlation between you believing in God and achieving your dreams and fulfilling your destiny. That God is supreme There is a promise on our lives That God will never leave me nor forsake me I was created in God s image God wants to take me to another level in life 3
AS WE READ IN GENESIS, THE CREATION OF MAN AND THE WORLD. Why did God create the earth and create us with it? He doesn't really need us, so why did he create anything? How did He actually do it? 4
WHAT IS FAITH? Complete trust or confidence in someone or something. 5
What does it mean to have faith? What does it mean to believe and trust in God? 6
WHAT IS FAITH? Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. -KJV 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. - NIV 7
WHEN YOU GO THROUGH DEEP WATERS I WILL BE WITH YOU. ISAIAH 43:2 What is Faith in God? HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT HOW YOU CAN BRING GLORY TO GOD? Jesus honors God by fulfilling his purpose here on Earth. We too can honor God the same way, especially when we fully believe and trust in God. 9

IN ORDER FOR ME TO START BELIEVING IN GOD S PLAN FOR MY LIFE, I HAVE TO START CHANGING MY PERCEPTION OF MY SITUATION Your problem is never your problem. Your reaction to the problem is really your problem! 11
WHAT IS GOD S PLAN FOR MY LIFE? I MUST BE WILLING TO: Walk with God: Learn to walk with Him the more time you spend with God, the more you cultivate your relationship with him. Proverbs 3:5-6 Surrender your will to God: God, I am seeking your approval and I am committed to your desires. Rom 12: 1-2. I give you permission to order my steps. Obey the Word of God: Be obedient to what His word says. Understand the gift that God has given you: God s plan is connected to my gift. 1 Peter 4:10 Be willing to listen to God s Spirit: God will speak to your heart and guide your thoughts: John 10:27, Psalms 37:4-5. I MUST BE OPEN TO CHANGE. 12

EFFECTIVE PRAYER IS MORE THAN COMMUNICATION WITH GOD It is the uninterrupted divine access to the heart and throne of grace and mercy, of almighty God, to express thanksgiving, deliverance, guidance, understanding, forgiveness, and renewal of the human spirit with the Creator. It is in prayer that man not only talks to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, but listens to develop a deeper intimate relationship with God Himself. -Anthony Vaughn 17

THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS! Colossians 1:17-20 The Message (MSG) Christ Holds It All Together 15-18 We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, he organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body. 20

JESUS SEES YOUR SITUATION. HIS MESSAGE TO YOU Get Ready.. I am turning it around. He demands more of you. He demands more love, more praise, more worship, more witnessing, more meditation, and more demonstration. In order to get more of you, Jesus has to reveal more of Himself in you. For example, the more I give of myself to my children, the more they realize how much I love them, and that love spurs a new love from them for me. 24

GOD HAS MADE US TO BE VICTORS... WE ARE NEVER DEFEATED First John 5:1-5 depicts the victorious life for believers. The Bible references many terms to describe those who have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. For instance, we are called Christians. We are also called the children of God (John 1:12), children of light (Eph. 5:8), children of the day (1 Thess. 5:5), and children of obedience (1 Pet. 1:14). But there is another title in the New Testament that may be as exciting as any other, and it is the title overcomers. That is the title John uses in 1 John 5:4: "Whatever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our 34 faith."

HOW IS FAITH INCREASED? Faith is increased by drawing closer to God through prayer and the study of His Word, the Bible. Another way faith is increased is by reading or hearing examples of faith in the Bible publicly stated. This is mentioned in Romans 10:17. So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 38

WHY SHOULD YOU PRAY WHEN GOD ALREADY KNOWS YOUR NEEDS? WHY TELL GOD WHAT HE ALREADY KNOWS OR ASK HIM TO DO WHAT HE ALREADY WANTS TO DO? We are inviting God into our lives Fellowship. We become co -workers together with Him (2 Corinthians 6:1) God is growing us We don t want to be guilty of keeping things hidden from God God never wants us to live lives independent of Him Prayer Binds Us to God That is why we tell God what He already knows. He knows what we need before we ask. We are definitely and specifically, told to pray and to ask not to impress or inform God- but to invite God, so that we might have that fellowship with Him in which we grow and learn to depend on Him. 62
