Why Do we Have to Pray?
1 Corinthians 3:8,9 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God s fellow-workers; you are God s field, you are God s building.
Ezekiel 22:30-31 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
Isaiah 59:12-13 12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You, And our sins testify against us; For our transgressions are with us, And as for our iniquities, we know them: 13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, And departing from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

Matthew 9:38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.

Phillips-Brooks stated, "Prayer is not the conquering of God's reluctance (=resistance), but the taking hold of God's willingness".
In his book, "Quiet Talks on Prayer", S.D. Gordon wrote, "Prayer is man(kind) giving God a footing on the contested territory of this earth. The person in full touch of purpose with God, praying - insistently praying - that person is God's footing on the Enemy's soil. The person wholly given over to God in prayer gives God a new sub-headquarters on the battlefield from which to work out. And the Holy Spirit within that person on the new spot, will insist on the Enemy's retreat in Jesus, the Victor's Name".
John Wesley preached, "God does nothing but in answer to prayer". "God's best working days are when His saints pray the most" (A.G. Ward).
