July 22, 2018 Lectionary 16 / Pentecost 9 This past week saw around 100 children participate in our 4-day Vacation Bible Camp! They sang songs, did crafts, heard bible stories, played games, and had a great time. Vacation Bible School: A Success! he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. The theme for the week was Speak Life! and the bible verse is from 1 John 3:16 & 18: We know love by this, that Thank you to all our over 50 dedicated volunteers who made the week possible! News & Announcements (cont..) Call Committee Update On July 18, the call committee met to discern a candidate of choice to recommend to the congregation for call. Following three Skype interviews and one in person interview we are close to a final discernment. The committee is excited to finalize their discernment and recommend a candidate for congregational consideration. Please continue to pray the Holy Spirit's presence in our call process. Thank you, Sue Carlson, Call Committee Chair Cold Weather Shelter Seeking Two Teams The Cold Weather Shelter is seeking two teams of volunteers to staff potential evenings of need this coming winter as they bid farewell to teams from St. Thomas More and Edmonds United Methodist. If you are interested in leading a team, or know of someone who would be a good fit, please contact Mark Waldin (info@weallbelong.org). Volunteers Needed at Area Food Banks All of our area food banks are in need of more volunteers, especially drivers to pick up food. Women s Retreat at Warm Beach Sept. 21-23 Women of the NW WA Synod will be on retreat at Warm Beach Conference Center September 21-23. The speaker will be Barbara Bell: If attitudes are contagious, are yours worth catching? This retreat will look at scripture and the encouragement God gives to refuel and refresh our hearts to choose attitudes that honor God. All are welcome! Friday check-in at 4 PM, check-out Sunday at 11 AM. Cost is $150 if registered before August 20, $165 after. Saturday only option for $80. Registration forms on the counter in the narthex at. The Wizard of All Aboard Wednesday, August 8, 6:30 PM at Everett Knights of Columbus Hall members will be attending a performance of The Wizard of All Aboard, a show written by three participants in All Aboard of Everett, a non-profit whose mission is to provide recreational, social, and educational activities for adults with special needs and help them develop an active, positive, and inclusive lifestyle. Aaron Radabaugh, who sings with the choir, is in the cast. The show is along the lines of The Wizard of Oz and developed from the daily experience and activities at All Aboard. Faith Formation Children & Family Ministries Footprints Sunday School Off for the summer. Will return in September. VBC Was A Success! Thank you to the 50 adults and teens who volunteered for Vacation Bible Camp. What a wonderful week with 100 kids in attendance. Thank you also to all of the families who shared their children with us. Speak Life! Summer Family Events Family Movie Night on Saturday July 28. Family Hike to Meadowdale Beach on August 26. More details to come. WAY Student Ministries Summer Youth Nights for middle & high schoolers (completed 7th-12th grades) Next meeting on July 24 (6:30-8:30 PM) for Nuk m and Sardines.
