U.S. Hwy 23, East Tawas, MI 48730 Pastor Kathleen Rowe Summer Blessings It is so exciting to see members, families and friends worshipping with us on Sundays. Also, new faces visiting each service. Please extend a warm welcome to anyone you do not know. It is the best way to show the love of Jesus in this world. July and August are filled with great opportunities to worship, fellowship and serve your church. Rev. Cathy Chang and family will participate in Worship with us on Sunday July 29th. Our amazing salad dinner will take place on Wednesday July 25th. Our yard sale will happen August 10th and 11th. And yes, we will have a Potluck Pig Roast Picnic on Sunday August 26th immediately after church. So invite your neighbors, friends and family to church that day and enjoy some great food, fellowship and fun lawn games. The Connection July-August 2018 Page 3 Mission Worker Cathy Chang To Visit TAPC In July Your continued prayers are requested for Cathy Chang and Juan Lopez, doing Mission work for the people of the Philippines. Cathy and Juan collaborate with Asian churches and non-governmental organizations to assist with coordination efforts to end the scourge of human trafficking. We are excited to tell you that Reverend Chang will join us on Sunday, July 29th to tell us about her work! We look forward to her visit! Sign Up For COFFEE HOUR! The Connection July-August 2018 Page 4 COME JOIN US New Member Workshop Scheduled for JULY 24 th and July 31 st Want to learn more about Tawas Area Presbyerian Church? Pastor Kathleen will be holding an information workshop on all things Presbyterian and TAPC. E-mail or talk to Pastor Kathleen about this workshop. Caregiver Conversation Hour Pastor Kathleen has had several requests for folks dealing with serious health issues and their caregivers to come together for coffee and conversation. The aim of the program is to share ideas and the reality involved in caring for loved ones with serious health issues. If you are interested in attending this bi-weekly group, please call or e-mail Judie Allen with the best times you are available. We will begin on July 19th at 10am. In Our Thoughts and Prayers... Recently hospitalized, had surgery, had tests, or have been ill... Grief Support Program St. Joseph Health System provides a variety of Grief Support services for patients, families, employees and members of the community. Grief Support groups are held monthly on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at SJHS in Classroom C. These groups provide support and information for anyone whose life has been disrupted by a significant loss due to the death of a loved one. Sessions are facilitated by a qualified member of the Spiritual Care Team. There is no fee, however advance registration is appreciated. To register, call 362-9368 and talk with the Chaplain.

The Connection July-August 2018 Page 5 Salad Dinner Sometimes there s nothing better for dinner than having someone else make it for you. For a low price, your dinner plans are taken care of. Tawas Area Presbyterian Church will host a Salad Dinner Night on Wednesday July 25 from 4:30-6:30pm. The dinner is open to everyone. So if you have friends or family in the area, visiting this is a great way to get together for dinner. The dinner will include salads and meats, including a lot of kid friendly for families. There will also be rolls and butter, assortment of delicious desserts, and beverages. The best part? The price! For only $7.00 per person and $20.00 per family. And if that s not enough of a bargain, kids 5 and under eat free. It is a delicious, and money-saving way to feed the whole family. Come to Tawas Area Presbyterian Church on July 25th and enjoy some great food. I ve gone through a lot, 24 weeks of chemo in Texas, and 33 treatments of radiation in West Branch. Thanks to all the drivers, soup preparers, and the planting of my flowers, for all the prayers, cards and telephone calls. A special thanks to Deacon Nan Scales for doing a super job in lining up the drivers, etc. Dale appreciated it too. Love you all... Lue Verran Thank you to the Fellowship Committee for helping with all the Memorial Services so far this year. Profits from the yard sale will be divided equally to all committees whose members help with the sale throughout the 5 day period that it will take to hold this fundraiser. If a committee would like to sell hot dogs, water, baked goods, please feel free to do this. Profits made after your expenses are met will be added to the yard sale profit. Yard sale items may be brought to the church starting Sunday, August 5th and throughout the following week. Place in the hallway outside the parlor. If you have large items such as furniture please put them under the roof out by the pavilion or call Jan Doak (362-0650) to make arrangements for pick up or help unloading. Please, no underwear (no matter how new); old dirty shoes; no paints or liquids of any kind.
