Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Leigh Clark Minister of Music & Youth Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. exist. Dear church family and friends, The first Sunday of Advent is Nov. 29. When Jesus arrived to inaugurate the first Advent, a dominant force in the spiritual climate was fear. Fear still grips us today. It can be so powerful that it overwhelms our faith. We can think and act as if God does not even What if we become agents of God, together, to change the spiritual climate of the town of Wise and our area? The difference between the temperature of 32 and 33 is only one degree, but it is the difference between rain or snow. You can help make that spiritual difference to help nudge our area toward faith! You are invited to help alter our local spiritual climate through Days of Christmas Kindness at Wise Baptist Church during the Advent season (Nov. 29-Dec. 24). It will increase faith of believers in Christ. It will point unbelievers toward Christ. Both the doer and receiver will be blessed. Look for a list of possible activities for Days of Christmas Kindness each week in our newsletter and bulletin. Be creative. Think about blessing some folks who do not get much good news during the week. One example might be the local Comcast office. It is recommended that you give a Connection Card along with your act of kindness. For example, if you take a plate of cookies to Post Office employees, attach the card to the plate. It may say, Merry Christmas from Wise Baptist Church [includes address, phone number, and web-site of the church]. This is a low-key way of saying who we are and why we are doing it. These Connection Cards will be available in the church lobby. Or, you can design your own personalized card. Acts of kindness in Jesus name they don t cost much. But, imagine what we can do to alter the spiritual climate in our town and area! Join with me in our Days of Christmas Kindness. From Leigh November 23 November 28 November 29 Dan Helton T. Ray Maine Josh Chisenhall I am thankful for Misty Belcher and the beautiful song she shared from her heart yesterday morning. It was such a blessing! I am thankful for the sanctuary choir and their beautiful anthem and for their faithfulness every week to lead in worship. I am thankful for Susan Smith and for the beautiful offertory she played yesterday. I am thankful for Elora Hutchinson and her testimony and prayer about the Operation Christmas Child boxes what an inspiration. I am thankful that so many people from our church chose to participate in shopping, packing, giving, and/or praying for our boxes. We live in a big world and it sometimes feels as if we can t make a difference. But, the truth is that everyone one of us is created for a purpose and we can, with God s help, make a difference! I am thankful for Nancy Stalnaker, Rachel Bailey, Kathy Kennedy, Jim Collie, and Junetta Knuckles for their participation in the Stop Hunger Now event last Monday at UVA- Wise. WOW! Yes, the house will be crowded and yes, I will work like crazy to get everything ready. But, the moments and memories that we create will last forever. I am thankful as well, for my church family. Where would be without each other? I am most thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, from whom all blessings flow. I am praying for all of you this week. Pray for each other, too.
