Emilie Forward cell: 719-371-4748 e-mail: eforward @yahoo.com Sunday Worship 10:00 a.m. Sunday School classes for all ages 11:15 a.m. Wesley United Methodist Church is called by God to invite people of all ages into an exciting journey of faith in Jesus Christ. The Way I See It: It was dead. I reached over to pick up my cell phone, but there was no picture, no dial tone, nothing. The battery was dead. It's the only phone that I use away from the office. I needed it right then and there, but that wasn't going to happen. I needed to take time to recharge it before I could use it again. Today we live in a world of stress and strain. It doesn't take long to drain our own "batteries." Then our own lives need to be recharged. Just imagine what it would be like to simply plug our lives into a power source when we become run down and tired, to become freshly recharged and ready to go! We can do just that when we turn to God in prayer, when we gather together to worship on Sunday mornings, and when we read and listen to God's word in our lives. We can become empowered for the living of these difficult days. I always look forward to my weekends on our ranch in the Wet Mountains. I return refreshed with a new perspective on my life and ministry. Even though I have an abundance of energy, the time away from the hustle and bustle of caring for God's children gives me a chance to reflect on my calling, to be in prayer with my God and to just relax. Imagine being empowered by the greatest power in the universe. We need to feel connected with God, for God gives us the strength we need. As Isaiah writes: "He strengthens those who are weak and tired. Even those who are young grow weak; young men can fall exhausted. but those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak." Plug into the ultimate power source. Plug into God. By the way, I now have a portable power cell for my phone in case it decides to get tired and wants to die on me. Happy Trails, Rev. Emilie Dig the well before you are thirsty. Hooray for Amanda Huggett Amanda Huggett has been accepted into medical school at the University Pikeville Kentucky College, Pikeville, Kentucky. She is pursuing a career in Osteopathic Medicine. Amanda graduates from Colorado State University - Pueblo on May 2nd with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry and Leadership Studies. A DAY OF NEW BEGINNINGS Sunshine District Conference Saturday, March 21, 2015 First UMC Pueblo, CO 310 West 11th Street 9:30 am -- 2:30 pm. Wesley's Leadership is urged to attend. BRING PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY ON MARCH 1 Don t forget that Wesley s food collection for the needy is the first Sunday of each month. During the month of March, the Cooperative Care Center has challenged us to bring peanut butter and jelly. Small jars are best. 1

Please place your donations in the red wagon in the south entry. Notes on Missions One Great hour of Sharing and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) Great Mission items for the United Methodist church. On March 15 th we will have the One Great Hour of Sharing. For more than 50 years Methodist have been taking part in this Offering laying the foundation for the UMCOR's ministry of relief, recovery and hope. The donation here at the One Great Hour of Sharing along with a couple other gifts throughout the year cover the cost of doing business, management, labor, employees etc. Gifts like the ones we give then can be given 100% to the project you specify. 100% to the cause so this Offering is important and needed. UMCOR does not receive United Methodist World Service apportionment funds. Without the One Great Hour of Sharing, UMCOR would not be there, because we give, UMCOR is there and ready in times of crisis. UMCOR has programs for: Disaster response, Global health, Global development, Refugees and country offices. These are National and International in scope and action. Country Offices are established in areas as needed for humanitarian relief and transitional assistance and stay as long as needed, decades in some areas. Currently UMCOR country Offices include: Armenia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Haiti, South Sudan, Sudan and Zimbabwe. Working with the Global Health Initiative health boards of the UMC, local communities develop strategic plans and proposals and help finance solutions that relate to Malaria, and related illnesses. Ebola, water issues are a few examples of this focus (currently 18 Health Boards are in place in African Countries). We have helped making Birthing kits, cleaning buckets, school kits, etc mainly on the Change the World Day in May. UMCOR is first on sight during disasters such as floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, droughts and fires. United Methodist Churches will receive the special offering One Great Hour of Sharing on March 15 th, this is the offering that pays for cost of doing business from fund raising to Administration. The Mission Committee tanks you for the many ways you support our ministries...labor, donations etc. PLEASE remember every time we help someone in need it is a mission of the Church...help as you can. Random acts of kindness, and love, caring and sharing with your community is what we are asked to do. Missions everyday in every way. God Bless, Art Benfield PLAN TO GIVE IN ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING OFFERING The annual One Great Hour of Sharing offering for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) will be taken on March 15. Your gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing help to keep the lights on and cover UMCOR s costs of doing business. That means 100 percent of every dollar you give to designated UMCOR programs helps some of the world s most vulnerable people. UMCOR does not take anything from designated gifts to cover home-office administrative costs because of the broad support of United Methodists through this annual offering. Because they are undesignated to a particular cause, One Great Hour of Sharing Offerings are sometimes also used for needy areas/problems that don't get much news coverage and thus don't generate their own designated giving. Learn to accept the apologies you never get. United Methodist Women (UMW) Since its founding more than 140 years ago, the work of each part of the organization is focused on the mission set for us by Jesus Christ, as expressed through the PURPOSE and lived out through our vision. The PURPOSE United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. I was reading these words this week and although I have belonged to the Methodist Church all my life and been involved in UMW on the local and district level for many years I had not thought about our PURPOSE. We get in ruts and go to meetings, serve meals, raise money, study or whatever, we have always done. We do not always remember what the BIG picture is.
