Jesus You re My Firm Foundation W e l c o m e! Welcome to Pathway Church where we are growing God s family by helping people take their next step with Jesus Christ. Following the service, everyone is invited into the Atrium for a time of refreshments and conversation. Welcome to all, but in particular, welcome to all guests! We encourage you to fill out the guest card on the back of this worship program and place in the wooden box on the table in the back of the auditorium. Today Pastor Joel s message is The Most Important Decision, and this concludes his series, Choose Well: Making Great Decisions. We will travel with the Prophet Joel to the Valley of Decision. If you missed any of these messages, you may hear them on pathwaycrc.org. Table Time Devotions are available today at the end of each row of chairs. Use these devotions either with family at dinner time or individually to deepen your understanding of God s Word and decision-making principles. Today we welcome Jim Verduin as a member of the Pathway family! Jim has worked for Country Insurance and Financial Services for the last 34 years with his office located in South Holland, Illinois. He sells and services all types of insurance, investments, retirement planning, and wealth management. Prior to the insurance business, he was a bricklayer and still enjoys, as a hobby, working with his masonry tools building things for friends and family. He and Donna have talked about doing some mission trips where there is a need for some building trade skills. He also enjoys fishing, motorcycles, vegetable gardening, all types of sports, and watching the grand kids play sports. Jim has four children and six grandchildren, but when they add Donna s 13 grand kids, their 19 total is really a hoot and keeps both of them busy!! Jim is grateful to God for his wife who led him to Pathway Church and describes it as quite the journey to say the least. He looks forward to getting to know more people and serving Pathway in any way he can. Church Signs: We are reaching that time of year that frost will prevent us from putting up and taking down our Meet Me at Pathway signs. If you can t get it done right now, that s okay. We ll call off the sign policeman for awhile. (Some of you, including me, have received texts reminding us that our signs weren t out!) However, hold onto your signs for spring!!! Please do not throw them away. We ll hit it hard again when the frost is out of the ground. Twitter: Follow me on Twitter @PastorJoelZ. Building Committee Update: The planned "Walk the Property" has been postponed indefinitely due to weather conditions. We're going to try and do it as soon as it is feasible. Also, please remember to pray diligently for the Building Committee as they work on making decisions regarding selecting a company to partner with us in this project. Ask for God's guidance in finding the company He has chosen for us in this endeavor. Transformed: How God Changes Us: Sign UP TODAY for a small group. There are seven lessons. The series begins January 31. (See the back of the Sermon Outline Insert for more information.) Pathway Church offers a Children s Program for ages 3-4th grade that meets every Sunday except the last Sunday of the month. The children are dismissed halfway through the service. There is a sign-in sheet on a table in the hall. Today, we continue our current study, Journey with Jesus. Journey with Jesus takes children on an adventure as they travel with Jesus through the cities where His ministry came alive. Each week we will explore a new place where Jesus walked and lived and discover His attitudes and actions.

Transformed: How God Changes Us *** Beginning January 31 *** TRANSFORMED is a church-wide seven-session Campaign that will discover what the Bible has to say about seven essential areas of our lives: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Emotional, Relational, Financial, and Vocational. It is a study of the transformational power of Jesus Christ in these seven areas as He makes Christians new through His Power, Word, and Spirit. Please Sign Up Goal: that all Pathway adult attendees would have a concentrated, focused small group experience with the rest of Pathway for this seven weeks. Sign up TODAY for a small group. There are 7 lessons. The series begins January 31. Here s why you should attend: The world is shouting for our attention with answers to our relationship struggles, solutions to our financial troubles, and explanations to our search for meaning. But the world's promises leave us empty and searching for more. God's power and will in us promises to TRANSFORM our lives from the inside out! January 17, 2016 - Outline Series: Choose Well: Making Great Decisions Message: The Most Important Decision Scripture: Joel 1: 2-4; 3: 1-3; 3: 9-16 Pastor Joel Zuidema The valley of What is our ultimate? is coming I have decided to...

Please be in prayer for Toni, sister-in-law of John and Jan Horner. Toni suffered a heart attack this week and is in critical condition. She is currently on life support, and the family will need to make care decisions soon. Mike Bultema had successful outpatient hernia surgery last week. Please pray for a quick recovery for Mike. Also continue to pray for him as he suffers with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Pray for healing or that a kidney becomes available for transplant. Also, pray for Mike, Caroline, Gracie, and Rachel that they may experience the peace of Christ and a confidence in being His children. Continue to pray for Jodi Jonkman s brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Juli Boersma as they recover from a motorcycle accident. They are both home now. Their kids are home as well. They still have a long road of recovery. Pray for healing and strength for both of them. Continue to pray for Ken Thompson, from World Mission, during his trek journey across the country. This is the wettest winter on record in Florida! He has walked about 400 miles so far and is near Orlando, Florida! He is requesting prayers especially for himself as one of his ankles has been bothering him. Pray too for safety and awareness for spreading the good news to all around the world. To keep up on news about Ken s journey, like his facebook page: trekking for treasures or www.trekking4treasures.com. He has shared some nice stories while on this journey so far. News and Notes Family Night: We had a great Wild Game Potluck and Coyote Chris Live Animal Show Wednesday night. Thanks to all for your food items and for inviting friends and family. Wondering what a Wild Game Dinner Potluck is like? Check out show time by Coyote Chris of Silly Safaris. Also, check out Pathway fishing and hunting 2015 pictures, as well as some of our friends trophies from the 2015 season. Pictures are on the web: pathwaycrc.org under Photo Gallery which is located under the Media Section. Our next Family Night is Wednesday, February 10, Boys, Girls, and Adult Pinewood Derby Race. Prizes for the fastest in each gender/age category and for the best-of-show in each gender/age category will be awarded. The High School Youth Group/Refuge 312 will meet TODAY, January 17, from 5:00 pm. - 7:00 pm. at Anthony and Rachel Drost s home, 9321 West 136th Place, Cedar Lake, Indiana. If you have any questions, please call or text Leanne Balkema, (708) 516-2943; Rachel Davids, (219) 616-1628; or Andy Siersema, (219) 689-7151. The Women's Wednesday Evening Bible Study will meet THIS Wednesday, January 20, at 7:00 pm. at Nancy Wiersema s home, 10784 Oakridge Court, St. John, Indiana. We will study Lesson 1, Putting Our Trust In God, from our new book, The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character, by John Stott. The Beatitudes reveal to us eight qualities that bring God's blessing: meekness and mercy, poorness in spirit and purity of heart, mourning and hunger, peacemaking and persecution. Jesus highlighted these to offer both encouragement and instruction on living distinctly as His followers in a world with values much different from God's. Our goal is to study these qualities and integrate them into our lives. We welcome new members. Call Donna Terpstra- Verduin for more information, 219-308-7207. The Women s Friday Morning Bible Study will meet THIS Friday, January 22 from 9:15 am. - 11:15 am. at Ashley Siemer s home, 2536 Capri Drive, Schererville, Indiana. We are studying Beth Moore's, Children of the Day, which is a study of I and II Thessalonians. Books are $15. Childcare is provided. Please contact (call or text) Sandy Vree at (708) 204-5119 if you have any questions or would like to attend. The Junior High Youth Group Leaders would like to do a Mall Scavenger Hunt with the kids on Saturday, February 6, at Southlake Mall in Merrillville. We would divide the kids up into separate groups to compete. We would feel more comfortable if each group had a parent chaperone - just to lag behind a bit and make sure everyone stayed together and was safe. (The parent would likely be assigned to a group not containing their own child.) We plan to meet at the mall at 4:00 pm. We'll then do our scavenger hunt and go out for dinner afterward. (Place yet to be determined.) We are probably looking at picking the kids up from whatever restaurant we're at, somewhere around 7:00 pm. Please let Karen Sherwood know if your child can make it and whether or not you (moms and/or dads) are willing to help chaperone. You can text her at (773) 443-5347 or email her at karensherwood9@ yahoo.com.

The Junior High Youth Group will likely NOT be meeting February 14 or March 13 due to the small group series that most people will be involved in. Another time to get together in March will be planned to replace that month s missed meeting. If you have any questions, call or text Karen Sherwood at (773) 443 5347. Mommy's Haven Opportunity: Due to the growth and progress of Mommy s Haven, we are in need of more help. For this reason, we are holding a call out meeting for all volunteers/potential volunteers who would like to get involved with Mommy's Haven in any capacity and/or time commitment. The meeting will give details about different committees and ways to get involved, including a time for Q & A. It will be held on Saturday, January 30 from 11:00 am. - 1:00 pm. at CrossPoint Church, 105 North Court Street, Crown Point, Indiana (located inside of the gym, north of the Crown Theater on the Square). We will have snacks and refreshments available at the meeting. Please let Terri Schaaf know if you'd like to attend. Spring Sermon Series: This spring I will do a testimony series. I m looking for a number of you to give praise to God for how He s worked through your difficult circumstances. I d like the following: someone who s emerged from alcoholism or drug addiction, someone who was adopted, someone who had an out-of-wedlock pregnancy, someone who was in a debilitating accident, someone who has emerged from bankruptcy, someone who has been through a very difficult death, and someone who emerged from works righteousness/playing along with a Christian religious system into the joy of God s grace. God is at work in and through us. Let s share how this is so. If you MIGHT be able to help with a testimony, see me.
