To glorify God and love others through worship, study, and service. April 1, 2018 Easter Sunday and April Fools Day James A. Cason Senior Pastor Scott Harris Associate Pastor Worship Services: Sunday School: Sanctuary: Fellowship Hall: Classrooms: 8:30AM & 11:00AM 9:01AM & 11:00AM 10:00AM It has not happened since 1956 - a year and half after I was born. Today we celebrate Easter Sunday on April Fools Day. Due to the quirks in dating Easter against the Gregorian calendar, the two observances coincide with each other very rarely. After 2018, the next time is 2029, and then again in 2040. After that, it will not happen again in this century. There could be no greater contradiction for these two holidays to fall on the same date. While April Fools is all about pranks and jokes, Easter is about the most incredible fact of history. The fool has said in his heart that there is no God, the writer of the Psalms proclaim. If Christ did not rise from the dead, we, of all people, are most miserable, said the Apostle Paul. There are those critics of the Christian faith who argue that there was no physical resurrection, but that there is the spiritual resurrection where we read the stories of Jesus and He comes alive in our hearts and memories. There are those who argue that the disciples stole the body and boldly proclaimed a lie. But all but one of the disciples died a martyr s death. Would they have died for a lie? Today is not just a day for us to smell the Easter lilies or enjoy the beautiful music. Today, we should be such a fool for Jesus that we would proclaim to the world the power of the Resurrection in our lives. -Pastor Jimmy Sunday, April 1, 2018 Sunrise, 8:30 & 11:00AM Traditional - Rev.
