Rookery Round Up Week ending 8th December 2017 Little Angel Gets Her Wings production photos

On Thursday morning, the Pre-Prep performed their Christmas production, Little Angel Gets Her Wings and it was a huge success! Well done to everyone involved, you should all be very proud of yourselves. It was a fantastic show that we will not forget!

Little Rooks have a special visit from Father Christmas! All the children have been busy getting involved in creative Christmas activities. We have been talking about the Christmas festival and the things we do to celebrate Christmas. Last week, we hung up our Advent Calendar and on Monday, we decorated the Christmas tree with lots of shiny decorations. Everyone wants to open the Advent Calendar and have a chocolate Father Christmas! This week, the children also had a surprise visit from Father Christmas during their Christmas party. A great time was had by all.

Reception become Santa s little helpers Christmas officially arrived this week in Reception and we have all been busy making cards, calendars and decorations to take home next week. The children have been invited to help in Santa's workshop and were busy preparing and wrapping all the presents. I was very impressed with their wrapping skills and how they helped each other with the different jobs. Well done Reception! Austin North

Year 1 prepare for Christmas There has been lots of excitement in Year 1, as the sleeps until Christmas are getting fewer. The children performed brilliantly and with such confidence in Little Angel Gets Her Wings and have really enjoyed working with Reception and Year 2 to put on such an amazing performance. In class, we have been learning about Advent and that it is the time for preparing for Christmas. We looked at Advent calendars and Advent candles and learnt that they are a number of ways of counting down to Christmas. The children also made Christingles to carry in the Christingle service at St Michael s Church on Thursday. They learnt that these services remind Christians that Christmas is a time to remember Jesus and celebrate his birth and that the money raised goes to children who are not as fortunate as they are. Well done Year 1 for all your hard work this term. You are ready for a well-earned rest. Enjoy everything Christmassy and spending time with family and friends. Have fun!

Years 1 and 2 take part in St Michael s Church Christingle Service After a hugely successful and well-polished performance of Little Angel Gets Her Wings on Thursday morning, the Year 1 and Year 2 children went off by minibus to St Michael s Church for a Christingle service. All the children had made their own Christingle and were delighted to see them lit in the church. It was a lovely service and so nice to see so many parents able to join us. A big thank you to Mrs Adams for inviting us along, and for all of her hard work with the Pre-Prep Christmas concert! Austin North

In Year 2 this week... This week has been a very busy week for Year 2! On Monday morning, we went to St. Mary s church to practise singing with the Prep choir for the carol service. It was very exciting going out in the mini bus to the church. Some of the children remembered that they had been there before as part of their RE work in Year 1. The children sang beautifully both on Monday and at the carol service on Wednesday evening. Well done Year 2! Austin North

In Year 2 this week continued... This week, the Pre-Prep Christmas post-box has been filling up with lots of Christmas cards. It is Year 2 s job to play Christmas postmen and empty the box regularly. We emptied it for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. Goodness me, what a lot of post! The children were kept very busy sorting the cards into classes and then delivering them. There were lots of happy faces upon receiving their cards. Austin North
