From the Desk of the Transitional Pastor Tim Binns - Tim s Thoughts The month of October is the beginning of a busy season for many churches. Our church will be busy also. This month we will have a Light the Night celebration on Wednesday, the 24 th of October. This will be great opportunity for invitations to be given out to grandchildren, nieces and nephews and neighborhood children. Tell them that your church is trying to give a safe, non-scary environment for our children. But remember, after this month we have Thanksgiving followed closely by Christmas. Just think, some stores have already had Christmas decorations out for a while. Please remember to continue to pray for your Pastor Search Committee. They have a God-sized task to find God s man to be your next Pastor. Instead of asking them for details, let them know that you are praying for them and the next pastor. While you are doing that, I covet your prayers as well. Many of you might not be aware, but the Personnel Committee has asked me to oversee the youth program in this transitional time. I have met with the youth a handful of times already and can tell you that we have a great group of youth. The parents and adults who work with the youth are the tops as well. I am looking forward to see what God does in the next few months with the youth, especially since I have Drake and Brittney working hard as interns. They are both eager to serve and want to see the group grow. Pastor Tim For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin. (Psalm 1:6) Daniel Young - Grace Notes I just got the opportunity to attend the Sing! Conference in Nashville, Tennessee with my beautiful bride. While there, we heard many people advocate for and teach on the importance of family worship. I would venture to say that most of us here at our church do very little to no family worship at home. Until I went to seminary, I had never even heard of the concept! But I came to find that many strong preachers are teaching how important it is. Of course, family worship makes sense when you consider the command in Deuteronomy 6 to parents that we should be talking about God what has done for us when we eat, when we go to the bank or the grocery store, and whenever and wherever we go with our kids. Our lives are an example in every respect, and our children will follow in our footsteps. Do you believe the statement above from Psalm 1:6 is true? I hope so. If you believe it, then please understand that your children s best chance to catch your faith is by watching you live it. Do you want your children to prosper in life or to see their lives lead to ruin? Obviously, prosperous is the right answer, and the Lord watches over the way of the righteous. Be righteous and live righteously, not only to please God, but because you have little ones watching and learning from you every day. Church and fellow deacons, thank you for the confidence Philip Buckles - Deacons Notes and trust you have shown me. I desire your prayers, counsel, mercy, God s wisdom and your friendship as I serve you in the capacity of Chairman of the Board of Deacons. I promise you and God to serve faithfully, with compassion and without prejudice. I want you to covet with me in prayer regarding the unity and spiritual welfare of our people. As I do, search your own life to see where God is asking you how you can serve HIM better. I urge each of you to spend extra time daily in prayer and Bible study giving God the glory for our church, our Savior, and thanking HIM for HIS wonderful provisions. God has given us a rich heritage here at First Baptist Fairborn where the bar for service and leadership has been set at a high mark. Let s promise God together to serve HIM faithfully without complaining and questioning. Let s not grow weary as the search for our new pastor continues. Please use the 40 day of prayer guide and be faithful to weekly encourage the search committee. Lastly, lift up Pastor Tim in prayer as he shepherds our flock. May God bless each one as the time of HIS appearance gets closer. This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Remember: We can do all things thru Christ which strengthens us.
