Also, parishioners who would like a home visit are asked to contact the clergy and make their wishes known. Parents of children 8 years of age who desire to have them receive First Holy Confession on Pentecost Sunday in June, 2019 MUST register the child(ren) for classes by October 7 th. The classes will begin shortly to prepare the children for this most important part of their spiritual development. To register your child, contact Youth Minister Mary Anne Sklaryk at 216.642.9355. Entry topics for the Annual Faith and Photography Contest sponsored by our Diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry have been received. The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the United Sates will be holding their meeting in Cleveland on October 2 nd and 3 rd. To begin their deliberations a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 2 nd at 8:00 a.m. at St. Sava s Orthodox Cathedral, on the corner of Broadview Road and Ridgewood Drive in Parma. All of our parishioners are invited to attend. This Assembly represents all jurisdictions of Orthodox Bishops in the United States. We extend greetings to all women named Sophia, Vera (Faith), Nadiya (Hope) and Lubov (Love) on their Patron s Saint Day. We also greet men named Theodore, Yaroslav, David, Constantine and Ihor on their Patron Saint Day on Tuesday. Mnohaya Lita! Prayers and condolences are offered to Irene Rudy, Nina Rudy and family on the sudden death of their husband and son, George on Tuesday, September 18 th at the age of 64. Special greetings go out this week to Mr. John Norka who recently celebrated his 90 th birthday. Mr. Norka, when younger, served on our parish Board of Trustees with a special contribution of writing our parish s history as well as working on the parish s constitution. He is also a member of our pyrohy group. We thank him for his love and dedication to St. Vladimir s Parish. We pray that our Lord will Bless him with much health for many more years. Mnohiya Lita! 3
As we commemorate the 85 th anniversary of the Holodomor, we are extremely proud that a documentary film Holodomor: Voices of Survivors has been selected for the Chagrin Film Festival. The Director of the Film, Ariadna Ochrymovich from Toronto, Canada is an award-winning independent film producer/director. She will be in attendance for a question and answer session. Holodomor:Voices of Survivors has received numerous awards in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Please support this film as the more people who attend, the more chances for this film to be recognized with an award.
