Volume 35 Issue 11 Women s November 2017 The Great Masquerade Ministry

Preschool News from the Three's Class: We had a wonderful October learning about Autumn, recognizing the letters in our names, and counting to three. We took a trip to Belmont Pumpkin Patch and learned about how pumpkins grow and are harvested. We had a visit from the GVFR and got to meet a real Firefighter and his truck! Our Bible Discovery for this month was Genesis 1:1 where we learned about God's wonderful Creation. The Pre K-4 class has been learning about the fall season. Along with making special October crafts, we continue to study letters of the alphabet and numbers. Every week, we study a different Weekly Reader and enjoy our class discussions about the issue presented. Each Friday, the children share Show and Tell items and add a journal entry about the letter of the week and the Show and Tell items. Two Bible verses have been presented and an additional one will be added each month for memorization and understanding. The Bible stories have taught us how God loves and cares for us and also introduced the children to Abraham and Moses. This month, we went on an exciting field trip to Belmont Pumpkin Farm. In addition, we combined the 3 year old class with the 4 year old class to share and enjoy the visit from the Gloucester Fire Department. They learned about fire safety and they also got to enjoy a hands-on tour of the fire truck.

Psalm 100: 1&2 says - Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs. What a blessing it is to come every Sunday evening and hear these young people shout for joy because they are glad to be in the house of the Lord. During the first 6 weeks of Awana, these children have brought in items to support Operation Christmas Child, excited to know they have a part in the gospel going around the world. Novembers' Mission Project will be again supporting Samaritans Purse. We will be collecting quarters to purchase chickens and recreational items for kids and families around the world. This month is also busy with the Grand Prix. Nov.10th - Pit Party at 7pm Nov. 16th Track set-up at 6:30pm Nov. 17th- Test run and qualify at 6:30pm Nov. 18th- RACE DAY at 10am. Thank you to everyone who ministered to the community at Hallowlujah. We gave out 750 Awana flyers, couple hundred church flyers, 90 lbs. of candies, 225 cups of coffee and the Lord gave us an opportunity to pray with a number of people. We praise Him for what He is doing. It was a great night of ministry. All glory to Jesus! Petsworth is hosting 3 other churches for the Grand Prix. We are excited to be able to share Gods' Word, fellowship and have some fun with other brothers and sisters in Christ. God is so good and we praise Him for the opportunity to host the first Awana Middle Peninsula Grand Prix. Please keep the staff in prayer as we get ready for this event. Every Child, Everywhere Jim Munson - Ministry Director

It was a joy to baptize Joshua Coleman on Sunday, October 22nd. Praise God for Joshua's public declaration of faith in Christ. Also thanking God for Gary and Meena Coleman for raising their boys in a household of faith. The 2nd Annual Red Cross Blood Drive The Senior Adult Ministry Attended the Glory Conference in Ridgecrest, NC. They enjoyed several days of great music, fellowship, preaching, and laughter! The blood drive, in honor of Mr. Neal Keen, took place Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Petsworth Baptist Church. Thank You to ALL the donors who came to donate this precious gift of life. Homeless Care Packages On October 18th, the youth group gathered supplies and assembled supply bags to be put into personal cars and given out upon seeing any people in need. Spy Rock Hiking Trip On October 8th after the first worship service, over 20 folks saw the splendor of our creator through a hiking trip to the top of Spy Rock.

The Sunshine organization outreach to nursing homes will meet Monday, November13 at 10am at the church to put together Christmas gift bags for the residents we visit. We will be giving a fleece blanket or gift bag to each person this year. What is needed for this is sample size hand lotions, small candy, tracts, and any other small items the elderly would appreciate. We ll also put together any remaining blankets that still need finished. Anyone is welcome to come help or donate items. Thanks! Point of Contact: Donna, (804) 824-9652 Wednesday Nov. 22nd 6:00 p.m. Supper Fish-Fry or Ham (for non-fish eaters) Every family brings a pie. Bring a pie to share and come for good fellowship. Please sign up for meal. Menu: fish, ham, baked beans, cole slaw & cornbread. November 26th Sunday School at 9:15 am Worship Gathering 10:30 AM Every year, we go to Peninsula Rescue Mission in order to serve the men that stay there a meal and provide some caring conversation. We need teens to be willing to go the day after Thanksgiving (November 24th), to be a servant. We have reserved tickets to go to Rocky Hock Playhouse in Edenton, North Carolina for a December 12th showing of the Christmas play What Child Is This? The group will depart at 7:30am in order to arrive for a group dinner prior to the play. All prospective attendees are asked to sign up in your respective Sunday School class. The cost is $32.25 per person which covers the cost of dinner/gratuity and tickets for the play. The Petsworth Baptist Ministry will be presenting it s 2017 Christmas on Saturday December 16 th. There will be two presentations, one being at 2 PM and the other at 7 PM. Please keep a lookout in your weekly bulletin for more information. There will be no cost for this event, and we are asking that the body of Petsworth please get the word out to their friends, neighbors and the community at large. We are praying that this funny, powerful drama is used by the Lord to reach the lost and hurting.
