Bible Story: Genesis 1:26 27; 2:1 25 As you tell the story of Adam and Eve, draw stick figures and simple scenes on the chalkboard or on a white board as shown. For six days God created the universe and filled it with stars, a sun, plants of all kinds, and living creatures such as fish, birds, and animals. (Draw a circle to represent the world.) Then He created His most special creation man! What did God use to make man? Dust! God picked up some dust from the ground He had created on the third day of Creation, and He shaped a man from it. Then God did something that separated man from all the other living creatures He had made He breathed into the man the breath of life, and the man came alive. God called the man Adam. (Draw a stick figure man.) God put the man He had made in a beautiful garden filled with all kinds of trees and a river running through it. God gave the man a job to work in the garden and take care of it. It wasn t a hard job because everything in the garden was perfect. Adam must have enjoyed working in the garden. He could eat fruit from any of the trees, except for one. God warned him to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but with so many other kinds of fruit available, that wasn t a problem. (Draw some trees around the man.) Adam worked in the garden and did what God told him. One day He brought all the creatures He had made to the man to name. Adam came up with a name for each kind of animal and bird. Wouldn t that be a fun job? (Draw some birds and animals near the man.) One day God said, It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. All the animals and birds were fun to watch and play with, but Adam didn t have anyone he could talk to who would talk back to him. God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping God took one of the man s ribs out of his body. From that rib, God made the first woman. (Draw a stick figure of a woman next to the man.) She was as perfect as Adam was. God created her especially to be the man s loving wife, to talk with him and help him. She was called Eve. Bible Story: Genesis 1:26 27; 2:1 25 (cont.) How did Adam describe Eve? He said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man. (Genesis 2:23) Eve was a much better companion for Adam than any of the animals God had created. That is because God made Adam and Eve like Himself with the ability to think and dream and love and plan. Though the birds and animals God made were beautiful and amazing, they could not do those things. The man and woman were the only creatures made in God s image. (Erase the world, the trees, and the birds and animals, leaving only the stick figures of the man and woman.) Step 6 Discussion God created the world and everything in it, saving the best for last! How were man and woman different from everything else God created? (Hint: Read the memory verse.) Look at the people around you. How did God make them all different? How are they the same? Whom did the first people resemble? How do you think they resembled God? Memory Verse So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
