Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended May 1, 2016 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes... $ 23,263.00 Offertory Collection... $ 1,951.00 Budgeted Weekly Joyful Giving $23,500 What a joy it is for the parish when we experience the deep generosity of one of our parishioners. An example is when last week the parish was the beneficiary of an annuity from a parishioner who passed away nearly two years ago. Imagine our surprise and gratitude when we discovered that our parish was gifted with a check for $120,000. This was such an amazing blessing. We have applied $100,000 of the gift to the building debt and $20,000 to operating income. Please remember with gratitude the life and soul of Sandra Schultz, a dedicated woman of love, family, friendship and nursing. Please consider remembering St. Bernard Parish in your own estate planning to pass along the gift of your own life and love. In addition I big thank you to everyone for your participation in the Bishop s Appeal 2016 Faces of Mercy. We were able to meet and surpass our Bishop s Appeal Goal this year. I always wonder (and pray over) how we are going to do each year. It takes so many of us contributing together to reach this goal. It is a very worthy goal in that it supports so many good endeavors from The Compass, to Catholic Social Services, to the Marriage and Family Office, to Presentations and Talks put on through out the Diocese, to Youth Evangelization and Education. I really think it is money that is well given. As I said at the end of all the Masses last weekend, it is not so much what you gave but that you prayed over your gift and did what you could or could not do. That is the most important. My heartfelt thanks to everyone. I preached last weekend on Mary and St. Michael as imaged in the art on Jason Spriggs of the Green Bay Packers. Many, many of you know the St. Michael Prayer by heart. If you do not, here is the prayer: St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do Thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
