He s Still On the Throne: Finding Hope In a World of Trouble by Stuart Briscoe Political instability, crumbling economic systems and rumors of war leave many believers overcome with anxiety about the future and searching for answers. Woven throughout with rich insights from First Peter, He s Still on the Throne gives intensely practical advice on finding joy in suffering for Christ, discovering peace in the midst of conflict and growing as a Christian during rough times. Briscoe reminds us that despite our current circumstances, God remains in control. Here at Hillcrest you will find several opportunities to connect with other Christians, to grow in your faith and to serve people both inside and outside the Hillcrest campus. Large Groups A great first step is to attend one of our large group events that are designed to help people connect with one another to begin new friendships or continue to develop life long relationships. These Large Group events include our fellowship time in between our Sunday morning services, the Sisters InC Meet the Women events, the Men s Breakfasts, Men s Basketball and MOPS. Life Groups Life Groups are all about simply living life together around some aspect of God s Word, building deeper relationships with Christ and with one another. Life Groups are smaller, with men- or women-only groups between 2-6 people and mixed groups between 8-14 people. The Life Groups can center around discussing the sermons each week or choose another topic or study. Life Groups run from September through May, with a semester break over the holidays. Study Groups Study Groups are typically 6-12 weeks long and are designed to go deeper into a life topic or Bible study. Study Groups are usually based on a book or other curriculum, so be prepared to do some homework in between sessions and discuss what you are learning with one another. 4 9
