. Parish Youth Gathering COD: Catholic Children of Devizes The Group had a fantastic meeting on Saturday the 13 th January and it was lovely to see some new faces. If you would like to join us next time, the next meeting will be on Saturday 3 rd February from 11am-1pm at the Church. We are happy for any children from YEAR 3 upwards to attend. You can just turn up on the day. Swimming Lessons Year 3 and 4 are swimming this term. I am aware that some parents do watch the lessons. However, could I remind parents that if you do happen to be there, please watch from the Spectators area. This is a Curriculum lesson and the tuition is based on the needs of the children. We need to ensure that the children are not having any undue pressure or stress put upon them by people watching them. It is important that we ensure the children are happy and confident in the water as this is a big part of being a confident swimmer. The teachers and instructors continually assess the children to ensure that the provision is effective.
Cars on the driveway We have noted that some parents are still continuing to park on the driveway, and drive down the driveway, before and after school. This is posing a serious risk to the children as they come and go to school. Please be reminded of the following: Please do not park anywhere along St. Joseph s Place - Monday to Friday, 8.30-9am and 3-3.30pm. Please do not set down/pick up children by car or taxi in any part of St. Joseph s Place - Monday to Friday, 8.30-9am and 3-3.30pm. Please do not drive along St. Joseph s Place between Monday to Friday, 8.30-9am and 3-3.30pm. **Please do not park outside the Church as it is preventing clergy and parishioners from entering and leaving the Church*** This is so important to ensure that our children are kept safe. School Milk Scheme A Reminder that children under 5 receive free school milk. If your child is over 5 years old, and you would like your child to have milk, you will need to register and pay with www.coolmilk.com or complete a form from the office.

This Sunday s Gospel: Key Messages Taken from the Gospel for Sunday 21st January 2018 (Mark 1:14-20): The Call of the Disciples After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. The time has come, he said, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News. As he was walking along by the Sea of Galilee he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the lake - for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, Follow me and I will make you into fishers of men. And at once they left their nets and followed him. Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in their boat, mending their nets. He called them at once and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, they went after him. With your child: In this Gospel, Jesus starts to build his community. Ask your child what the word COMMUNITY means to them. Which communities do they belong to? What do they enjoy most about their Catholic School Community? Reflect on ways in which they can use their gifts for the good of the communities they belong to. Pray together: Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for our school and our parish communities. Please help me say yes to you and enrich the communities I belong to. Amen.
