From the President Dear Friends of Immaculate Heart Radio, If there is one thing I have learned in my 20 years with Immaculate Heart Radio, it is that God s plans are bigger than ours. The Lord tells us in Scripture, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8) Looking back on 20 years of Immaculate Heart Radio, I know this to be true. When we launched our first station, KIHM, 20 years ago, I thought I had reached the end of my journey with Catholic radio. My plan was to go back to building homes - but God had other plans. After KIHM began airing in Reno, others asked for Catholic radio in their community. So we launched another station. And another. And another. Now our network consists of 35 stations and translators in six western states which includes two of the biggest markets in the country - Los Angeles and San Francisco. Then earlier this year, I met with our friends at Relevant Radio to discuss the possibility of uniting our Apostolates to make one national network. We ve had this same conversation for about 15 years, but this time we determined that if we could raise a minimum of $30 million to strengthen our financial situations, our networks could unite. I left the meeting thinking it might be years before this came to fruition but God had other plans. By October, we already had $22 million pledged, and now we ve almost reached the $30 million mark thanks to several generous listeners. We are now in the process of uniting with Relevant Radio to create a Catholic radio network that reaches from coast to coast with programming on more than 108 stations.

And one more story. Just last week a donation came from a man who told me that he and his wife just wouldn t have made it through the very tough years after their son died, if it had not been for the encouragement they received from Immaculate Heart Radio s programming. It was a great reminder that your act of sending in a check or scheduling a monthly donation may seem simple but it provides a literal lifeline to so many people. God s plans are bigger than our plans, and His ways are above our ways. Reflecting back on the past 20 years of Immaculate Heart Radio and looking to the future and our union with Relevant Radio, I am grateful for you our listeners and donors who have shared your time, your prayers, your faith, and your resources with Immaculate Heart Radio. I thank you for joining us in our mission for the last 20 years, and I look forward to seeing what God has in store for the next 20. Please continue to keep Immaculate Heart Radio in your prayers, and be assured that we pray for you each and every day. May God grant you peace, joy, and many blessings in 2017. Sincerely in Christ, Doug Sherman President

The eve of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima brought exciting news to Immaculate Heart Radio... Our mission to assist in the Church s New Evangelization received an exciting boost on October 13th -- the eve of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima -- when we announced news to merge with Relevant Radio, a Catholic radio apostolate based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The merger brings together 36 years of broadcast experience to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in 15 of the top 50 listening areas including the four largest markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco. Together we ll broadcast inspirational radio programs over 108 stations and translators in 36 states reaching 133 million souls. Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles commented, The merger of Immaculate Heart Radio and Relevant Radio will bring blessings to Catholics here in Los Angeles and across the country. In a way, this merger feels like a historic moment in Catholic communications in this country. For the first time, there will be a single Catholic voice in our nation s largest media markets. I welcome the news and I look forward to our continued partnership in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to every person, so that every heart will know God s love and mercy and find the path to true happiness. There is no more important or urgent task than to reach souls for Christ.

We have what any successful organization wants, said Tom Vorpahl, Relevant Radio Board Chairman. Tom will serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Immaculate Heart Media doing business as (dba) Relevant Radio. Everyone on board is involved because of the mission to build up the Kingdom of God. We will continue to be successful and stay the course in darkness or amidst stresses and strains when each and every individual in the organization is growing in holiness, participating in the sacraments, growing in prayer life and open to the Holy Spirit. The unification solidifies our hopes and dreams for ensuring our continued presence and success into the future, stated Doug Sherman, President of Immaculate Heart Radio, who will continue as President of Immaculate Heart Media dba Relevant Radio. And it will cause many more stories of lives being changed, marriages strengthened or saved, and people coming closer to Christ and His Church. United, we will... Create a national Catholic media presence Better serve the Church and her Bishops Promote the Catholic faith in the public sphere in a more impactful way Build on 36 years of broadcasting experience Use the best production methods coupled with the latest technology to deliver the Good News from coast to coast We are preparing to add an exciting new one hour program from Relevant Radio on your Immaculate Heart Radio station starting in early 2017. What can you do to help? First - pray for us daily one Hail Mary a day. And if you are blessed to be able to financially help us, please contact: Steve Wise, Immaculate Heart Radio Director of Advancement at 916-296- 0540.

In 2016, Immaculate Heart Radio hosted two Elevate Conferences. One in Santa Clara with almost 800 attendees and one in Long Beach with over 700 attendees. Both events were packed with encouraging and inspirational talks by Immaculate Heart Radio personalities: Patrick Madrid, Fr. Matthew Spencer, OSJ, Phil Sandoval, Joe Sikorra, Cy Kellett, Kristine Franklin, Jesse Romero, and Terry Barber. The dates for the 2017 Elevate Conferences will be announced soon. Matthew Spencer Upgraded the signal and added another station in Albuquerque Moved the station in Phoenix for better coverage Visited 123 parishes to promote our stations Prayed for 11,946 listener intentions Employed 38 individuals to make all this and more happen 2016 Immaculate Heart Radio Expenses Local Station Operating & Engineering Expenses Programming Services Administrative, Legal & Accounting

In 2016, generous donors enabled Immaculate Heart Radio to: Partner with the Knights of Columbus to donate 270 wheelchairs to deserving families or veterans. Feed over 800 starving children in Sierra Leone for a year in partnership with Cross Catholic Outreach. Provide a year s Catholic educational scholarships to over 450 boys and girls in Eastern Uganda (thanks to an anonymous supporter). We have 496 volunteers who do so much to help spread the word about Immaculate Heart Radio. Here are some of the things they did in 2016: Our Parish and School Ambassadors represented Immaculate Heart Radio in their parishes, schools, and at 155 events. An estimated 4,026 thank you calls were made by volunteers throughout the year to our generous donors. Many volunteers helped out in our office, during pledge drives, and at events throughout the year. Volunteers started sharing content on social media posted by Immaculate Heart Radio on its website and other media outlets.
