Who We Are The Kirk The Kirk of the Keys is a strong, diverse ECO Presbyterian church located in the beautiful Florida Keys with the mission of Creating Fully-Committed Followers of Christ in Our Community. The Kirk of the Keys is a diverse body of learners, seekers and believers. We believe that we are called to proclaim and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. In doing so, we will: Provide a safe environment filled with love and acceptance Come to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior Be motivated to practice His teachings in every area of our lives Discover a community of service thus becoming a visible sign of God s Love for all people We are actually a small church, approximately 225 members with a huge ministry. Our congregation encompasses young families, older adults, snow birds, year round residents and everyone in between. Our commitment to mission includes providing a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere for worship for the many who visit and enjoy the splendor of the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys have many seasonal residents, often called snow birds. Some of our most active members are seasonal. We offer an Affiliate membership for those who want to keep their primary membership at their home church. Sunday Worship Services We offer two distinct worship services; a 9 a.m. contemporary service and an 11 a.m. traditional service. Both services are open to everyone. Our 9 a.m. contemporary service is led by Solid Ground, a talented and dedicated praise band. We sing contemporary songs but also include traditional songs and hymns to keep a blend of the old and new. We also utilize occasional video and PowerPoint presentations when appropriate.
Who We Are Our Children s Ministry, Children s Sunday School and nursery are offered concurrent with the 9 a.m. service. Our traditional 11 a.m. service embraces a deep, worship-filled experience. We strive to keep traditional Presbyterian customs intact with this service. The order of worship, liturgy and music, including a professional string duo, are in that keeping. While our numbers vary greatly depending on the season, our dedication, love and worship remain steadfast. Everyone is welcome to worship in this house dedicated to the Glory of God, including visitors and those without a church home.

Where We Are Our Surroundings Marathon is in the middle of the Florida Keys, a chain of islands just over 100 miles long. We are located approximately halfway between Key West and Key Largo. Marathon is the Heart of the Florida Keys, and Kirk of the Keys is centrally located at mile marker (MM) 51.5 along US-1, also known as the Overseas Highway. The Keys are in Monroe County, FL. Marathon has a few well-known retail stores like Kmart and Home Depot, but most businesses are locally owned and operated. This is a common theme throughout the Florida Keys and reflects the unique spirit of the people who call the Keys home. What differentiates Marathon is that it offers spectacular sailing, fishing, world-class wreck and reef diving and snorkeling, impeccably maintained beaches, eco-attractions and marine-based educational programs. The Keys are unlike any other place and attract people from all around the world.

Where We ve Been Our History Where We Came From From our beginning as an inspired 'vision for a new ministry' in 1958 until the present day, the Kirk of the Keys has been a very dedicated group of people called to a unique and viable ministry. With a small group of people gathering in the Marathon Theater for worship each Sunday, interest and leadership grew to organize the Kirk of the Keys with 77 charter members in 1959. The construction of the original building for worship was completed in May of 1963. We are not 'steeped in tradition', but rather, we are a very open and accepting congregation of believers composed of people from many other locations, backgrounds and denominations. Today, we continue to remind everyone that we are the Church, full of various personalities and characters, and we have a wonderful meeting place to gather to worship our one Lord and Savior.
Where We ve Been Hurricane Irma In September 2017, Hurricane Irma devastated the central Florida Keys, locally called the Middle Keys. Approximately 25% of housing and businesses were completely destroyed. The Kirk of the Keys became a beacon of hope during desperate times. We were able to open our doors as a first response supply sanctuary providing generators, chainsaws, gas, water, food, baby supplies, clothing, medicine, prayer and hope to our devastated community. Even as Marathon continues to rebuild, our congregation has shown its strength, resiliency, and service in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and we are excited to move forward in the mission of rebuilding and supporting our beloved community.
