Reflections: Welcome It s hard to believe we are at the end of our Faith Formation year. As I started in August I knew I was jumping into this faith formation year with both feet and trying to keep my head above water. I have learned so much this year and am looking forward to the spring and summer to have more time to plan for next year. Some things I have learned include St. Patrick s is an unbelievably beautiful church. The architecture is amazing. The detail work is amazing. I have really loved reading about the history of the church and how the church was designed. I marvel that in the 1890s the people of Whitinsville were using two churches in Verona, Italy as the inspiration for St. Patrick s. That wasn t the time where they could research on an iphone and come up with the plans for the architecture. There is more to the beauty of St. Patrick s though then the architecture. The beauty comes from within. I have been received and welcomed by you. I cannot tell you how much not only I but also my family has appreciated it. My oldest Megan is 23 years old living in Dublin and attending Vet School. She was horrified I was talking about leaving St. Mary s. She had been a parishioner there since she was two weeks old. Yet, she loves it here and she is planning her wedding here next year. I have appreciated all of your help, your ideas and your hugs. Another thing I have learned is that on Sunday I can easily get 12,000 steps just in the church and the rectory. I was not told when I took this job how many steps and stairs I would be climbing. I have learned that in September you start planning Advent lessons and in Advent you are preparing Lenten lessons. I have learned how much this community enjoys its fish (baked and fried) on Lenten Fridays, also another great way to earn my steps. I have learned that five pounds of lunch meat will not feed the Confirmation kids at lunch on retreat and no matter how much you think of the loaves and fishes you still need to make a run to Shaw s for more! I have learned not to schedule classes the Sunday morning before Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter as your generosity shows in the gift baskets dropped off and given those weekends. I have learned parents generosity in providing for retreats and classes for their children and the community. I have seen yet again how God and the Holy Spirit work through us the regular everyday people. As you read this I will be at a conference in Maryland learning more about Youth Ministry, Kid s Faith Journey s, Sacramental prep etc. I am excited to bring what I learn back and use it to help our kids and our teens and our families as we all continue our faith journey. Peace, Aileen REGISTRATION FOR FAITH FORMATION 20182019 IS NOW OPEN. Please go online to the St. Patrick s website and under Faith Formation fill out the registration form. Laudato Si : On Care for Our Common Home The poor are hurt the most by climate change. Many of the poor live in areas particularly affected by phenomena related to warming, and their means of subsistence are largely dependent on natural reserves and ecosystem services such as agriculture, fishing, and forestry. They have no other financial activities or resources which can enable them to adapt to climate change or to face natural disasters, and their access to social services and protection is very limited. [ ] there has been a tragic rise in the number of migrants seeking to flee from the growing poverty caused by environmental degradation. They are not recognized by international organizations as refugees; they bear the loss of the lives they have left behind, without enjoying any legal protection whatsoever. Sadly, there is widespread indifference to such suffering, which is even now taking place throughout our world (25) Please see today s Bulletin insert for a prayer: Canticle for the Creatures by St Francis (the first environmentalist) and an introduction to the 2018 Earth Day Beyond a Throwaway Culture: Reduce Waste Grow Community (10 Shocking Facts About Plastic Pollution)

Welcome Help Support our Haiti Mission Trip in June We are excited to introduce St. Patrick s Global Mission Team s PickaNumber fundraiser! It is a simple and easy way to become a part of our parish s newest mission a service trip to Haiti in June. ( ( ( You don t need to go anywhere, get dressed up or do much of anything else! ) ) ) Please check out the bulletin boards at the Church s main entrance filled with colorful, numbered envelopes. You are invited to pick a number and use that envelope to make a contribution (for at least the amount of the number on the envelope). Step #1 We encourage you to pick a number that is meaningful to you a birthday, anniversary, your age, address or your favorite athlete s number anything that is special to you!! Step #2 Take the envelope with you and use it to make your contribution you can mail it (as they are already addressed), put it in the collection basket at mass or drop it off at the rectory. You can even make an online donation. (Details are included inside of every envelope.) All contributions will go toward making this mission a reality for Fr. Tomasz, Deacon Pat and the entire team of 16 volunteers. Your donation will help to buy building materials for a modest home, pay the local workers who ensure that our team of amateurs gets the job done right, provide funds to the orphanage where they will stay and help get the group there and back safely. Thank you for your prayers and support of this important outreach and service mission!
