ANNOUNCEMENTS Tables for Eight: This fall join friends for fellowship, fun, and food!! October through January, 2019: Use rcptables@gmail.com to sign up. Deadline is September 30 th. Thanks, Gail Black HOLLYWOOD SENIOR CENTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY The Hollywood Senior Center (1820 NE 40 th) is a welcoming place on a regular basis for some of our church members. There are ways you can support this amazing place that serves the elders of our community. If you are a crafter knit, sew, paint, etc., who also happens to be a senior, consider being a vendor in the Golden Treasure Gift Shop, where proceeds go to support the many center programs. Or if you enjoy being around people, consider being a volunteer at the center. A financial donation will be especially helpful right now as part of the center roof collapsed last week during that strong lighting/rain storm. The center had just months earlier completed a major remodel, including new flooring. For more information, see Nancy Freyer Peacemaking/Global Witness All one must do to realize the great and ongoing needs of many in the world at large, as well as in our community, is read the headlines, listen to the news, read one of Patti s Street Roots papers or otherwise turn a sentient conscience to the world around us. This year s Peacemaking & Global Witness Special Offering will be asking us all to thoughtfully and prayerfully consider what we might contribute to aid those in such need as we might only be able to imagine, keeping in mind that 50% of those monies we donate will be used here in Portland for causes that we all deem more than just worthy. You can certainly contribute by using one of the envelopes in the pew racks for this purpose or by contacting the office. Your social Action Committee will be offering up Minutes for Mission during the services leading up to Sunday, October the 7th, our denomination s designated Peacemaking and Global Witness Sunday. Thank you in advance for such generosity as you are able to share.
