Spirit of Christmas Dress Down Day Fundraiser It s only October, but we can already feel the Christmas spirit in the air. Christmas is all about love, family, kindness, and giving. Mater Dei Catholic School sponsors a few families for Christmas. What is a dress down day fundraiser? A dress down day is a day when everyone pays $1 for their own top and $1 for their own jeans, shorts, dress, or skirt to wear to school. All clothing must be modest and appropriate in length. (No leggings, jeggings, yoga pants or any form fitting bottoms will be allowed.) Thank you for your kindness and consideration. Dear God, thank you for the fall weather. Jump Rope for Heart February 13 Be a Healthy Role Model Healthy kids are more likely to become healthy adults. Be a role model and help your kids make safe and healthy choice every day. Here are a few suggestions: 1. Buckle up every age, every seat, every trip. 2. Wash hands with clear running water, apply soap, rub hands, and rinse. 3. Brush and floss teeth every day. 4. Put on a helmet while riding a bike, or skating. 5. Protect your skin from the sun with proper clothing or sunscreen. From the cross, Christ teaches us to love even those who do not love us. -Pope Francis Contact Us: Website: materdeischool.org email: materdei@materdeischool.org Facebook: Mater Dei Catholic School- Topeka Twitter: MaterDeiKnights Instagram: materdeiknights Beginning and Advanced Band are getting familiar with reading notes again and will start to work on Christmas music soon. The Catholic Education Foundation provides children in need with scholarships to attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. CEF believes that ALL children who seek a Catholic education, one that offers both quality and faith, should be given the opportunity. By helping these children, and their families, we are making their dreams a reality.
Rosary October is the Month of the Holy Rosary. The rosary is just one of the beautiful devotions to honor Mary, our mother. There is something about the Rosary that settles our hearts and minds. It puts us at ease, creating peace. Praying the Rosary encourages us to slow down. We learn from Mary how to look at an experience, hold it in our hearts, and ponder what it means for our lives. This slower pace also allows us to be present to whoever and whatever is in front of us at any given moment. Take this month of October to develop the habit of praying your intercession to Mary through the Rosary.
