Off the Record Welcome to September! The months of July and August brought the heat and humidity very uncomfortable to say the least!! Here s hoping that the month of September will bring a bit of relief!! First of all, we would like to thank our friends at the First Congregational Church of Plymouth for hosting us in the month of July and for worshiping with us here at First Baptist Church for the month of August. As always, it is our pleasure to be able to share worship and fellowship time with you. We would also like to extend our thanks to all the visiting ministers who gave their time and helped us celebrate and provide God s loving message to us all. They are as follows: August 5 - Rev. Kevin Butler August 12 - Pastor Gary Freimuth August 19 & 26 - Rev. Jody Guerrera In the month of September, we welcome the following ministers to our pulpit: September 2 - Rev. Tim Chesser September 9 - Rev. Treda Collier September 16 - Rev. Michelle Madsen-Bibeau September 23 - Rev. Treda Collier September 30 - Rev. Michelle Madsen-Bibeau As mentioned above, Rev. Michelle Madsen-Bibeau will be celebrating with us on September 16 and 30. She is also the candidate for our Interim Minister. Rev. Madsen-Bibeau has many years of Interim experience and has come highly recommended by ABCCONN. As we begin the month of September, we are also bidding farewell to Scott and Tammy Johnson who will be making their new home in Florida. We wish them well as they close one page and begin a new page in their book of life together, in a new home and with new jobs. Please know that we will miss you terribly. It has been a long and very hot summer, but we have made it through all the changes - just as we will make it through the process of finding our new Interim Minister! The Good Lord has always blessed and provided us with the answers that we have needed. He is always with us! With our warmest wishes, Your FBC Family

All in the Family July and August have brought with it a number of hospitalizations. Betty Salerno was in Yale New Haven Hospital for tests. Her stay was a bit lengthy and she was transferred to Mary Wade Home for rehab for several weeks. She is now finally at home recovering. All our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you April Zdanis was in Waterbury Hospital for a surgical procedure. She is doing well in her recovery and says she is feeling better every day Matthew Rose has had a problem with carotid artery blockage. Test results showed extensive blockage indicating surgery is not an option at this point. Our love and continued prayers for you Matthew... Joel Fairchild s leg is not healing as expected. All skin that started to grow had to be removed back to the start. Our continued prayers for you, Joel, for a complete and speedy recovery Scott and Tammy Johnson are in the sale process of their home here in CT. They have also found a new jobs and a new home in FL. Scott will be coming up soon to help with the final packing and ultimate move to their new home in FL. All our love and best wishes go with you both. We will miss you! THE MUSIC CORNER September 2018 My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Psalm 57:7 Our church is currently in a state of change. Pray that the Pastor who should be at FBC is sent our way. Change is also happening in the music arena. As you may have surmised, three of the four current choir members will no longer be with us next fall. If you ve ever thought contributing to the music, talk to me. Perhaps you could sing or play an instrument for a single service. Do you have a friend who might want to visit us and do the music at offertory? Are you interested in choral singing? If enough people are, we can continue with the choir. Perhaps we have a Sunday when the women sing, and a Sunday when the men sing, and a Sunday when the children sing I m open to all ideas. We have an open door. Pray that we are led to continue to praise God through song. Julie
