PASTORAL PLAN 2015-2018 LYNN CATHOLIC COLLABORATIVE PURPOSE The purpose of the Lynn Catholic Collabora5ve is to form inten5onal disciples who will: proclaim the good News of Christ for our diverse communi7es; promote ongoing conversion; ac#vely build Chris#an rela#onships with one another; bring people into a growing and loving rela0onship with Jesus Christ; engage with our people in full par0cipa0on in the celebra0on of the Sacraments; build the Body of Christ in an atmosphere of love forgiveness and acceptance; and help to heal the wounds of the city and the world. OUR COLLABORATIVE VALUES Collabora've Unity Guided by Christ as we work together through open communica7on, transparency, and respect in a way that benefits both St. Mary and Sacred Heart parishes and Sacred Heart School. A. All events are open to members of both parishes and the school. B. We share leadership of collabora0ve ac0vi0es and ministries. C. We will provide a means of respec2ul input and communica5on on issues affec5ng the collabora&ve. Deepening Our Faith Drawing on the diverse gi0s of both parishes in order to enrich our spiritual life by living the Gospel and through the recep.on of the sacraments. A. Provide a comprehensive faith forma2on program in an age appropriate format. B. Provide the resources needed to enable all to form a closer rela4onship with and an understanding of Christ. C. Provide opportuni-es for our diverse cultures to share their gi5s in worship, fellowship and ministries. Page 1
Improved Evangeliza&on Increasing the vitality of the collabora3ve through radical hospitality and crea3ve outreach. A. St. Mary and Sacred Heart parishes and Sacred Heart School will have an organized welcome program for new members. B. Parishioners will be educated to understand their responsibility to invite others to worship with the believing community. C. All will be encouraged to par2cipate to a greater degree in the Chris2an service opportuni2es provided by the collabora0ve as a witness to their commitment to discipleship. VISION STATEMENT Reawakening, growing and celebra.ng our Catholic Faith together; welcoming all. OUR COLLABORATIVE PRIORITIES FOR 2015 TO 2018 As we become the welcoming community we envision, we seek to inspire a culture of voca9ons where our universal call to holiness is witnessed in the lives of all and is an integral part of the religious forma5on in the parishes and the school. Over the next three years, the Lynn Catholic Collabora5ve of St. Mary and Sacred Heart parishes and Sacred Heart School will focus our efforts on the following three priori4es in order to fulfill our stated purpose. Forming Inten,onal Disciples As we look forward to a renewed and energized church, we believe that all need to recognize their call to discipleship. Jesus commanded the apostles to go and make disciples. We are also called by our bap(sm to do likewise. A. Forty to fi(y parishioners will a2end 3 to 4 events which invite them to discern their gi1s and the way that God is calling them to use their gi*s in service to others between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018. B. A Voca'on team is established and sponsors 1 to 2 ac'vi'es per quarter which promote voca%ons to the diocesan priesthood, religious life and the married state, each a6ended by 30 to 40 parishioners between September 1, 2015 and June 30 2017. a. The Pastoral Staff will spend 3me in prayerful discernment to iden3fy those members of the collabora.ve best suited to staff the voca.on team. b. A holy hour of adora,on will precede the scheduled 7:00 p.m. Mass monthly with a specific inten*on of prayer for the diocesan priesthood. c. The school will invite speakers to discuss their call to priesthood and religious life with the students. Page 2
Becoming a More Welcoming Community Our Parishes and School form a diverse community commi5ed to being a church that warmly welcomes all and celebrates that diversity and the gi4s they bring. A. A joint hospitality commi0ee is formed and sponsors one welcoming event for new parishioners each quarter between June 30, 2015 and June 30, 2018. B. One hundred to two hundred new households register in each parish by December 31, 2018. Page 3
Strengthen Our Liturgical Celebra.on To provide a sufficient number of trained Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers, Musicians, Altar Servers, Greeters and Ushers which represent the diversity of our Community by December 2015. A well- trained Liturgy Commi0ee will be in place by June 30, 2016 to promote 5 to 6 events a"ended by 250 to 350 parishioners in order to educate the community on the liturgy between September 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018. A. Educa&onal materials will be provided to help the assembly understand the parts of the Mass. B. A series of presenta-on on the Sacraments and their meanings will be held. Page 4
