BIBLICAL DOCTRINE OF MAN

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Transcription:

THE DEVIL / SATAN (Supplementary) Satan was created by God as a spirit being, both beautiful and powerful. The name Lucifer, means "son of the dawn (morning) Eze, 28." I believe that almighty God, having created Lucifer, both knew and ordained his ultimate rebellion. However, just as in everything, I also believe that God was insulated from the creation of evil and it's introduction into His pure creation by that which He did create. In other words, while God foreknew Lucifer's prideful rebellion and fall, He Himself is not the author of original sin. The 5 "I Wills" of Satan: 1) I will ascend Into the heavens (God's place): 2) I will exalt my thrown above the stars (angels): 3) I will sit upon the mount of the congregation (God's people): 4) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds (creation): 5) I will be like the Most High (God): In addition to Satan's role In the fall of mankind into sin, He is still at work seeking to usurp, and destroy all that is God's. "We are not ignorant of his devices:" 1) Satan causes us to act Independently of God and In rebellion to His will ( i.e. w/eve). 2) Satan seeks to deceive and tempts us to believe his lies (John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.; Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?; Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.). 3) As the accuser, Satan tempts us into false guilt, doubt, and self-condemnation (Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.). 4) Satan is the destroyer, and battles us with hard circumstances (i.e., Job, John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.;). 5) Satan tempts us to be un-forgiving (2 Corinthians 2:10-11 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; (11) Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.). 6) Tempts us toward pride and vain-glory (1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;).

Angelic Organization: Michael "Arch angel" (principal) Gabriel "Messenger of Jehovah" Seraphim (above the thrown) Cherubim (beside the thrown) Living Creatures (before the thrown) Angelic Host Demonic Organization: Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Of Angels: There are some "Fallen" and some "un-fallen"; Of the fallen: There are some "chained" and some nun-chained"; Of the Chained: There are some" chained eternally awaiting judgment", and some who will be freed for a time (Rev.), Of the "Un-fallen": They are all messengers of the Most High. doing His bidding. Lucifer s Fall (Ezekiel 29:12-18) Lucifer was created perfect in all his ways, but iniquity was found in him. It was not put there by God. Lucifer created it. (this is found in Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.) Like man, the angels were created perfect, and with a free will. Satan was lifted up because of his beauty, he corrupted the wisdom by reason of his brightness (This is in Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.) Q Where does Satan and the fall fit into all of this? He must have been cast down before Adam and Eve were created because he was there to tempt Eve in the Garden? Was there, could there have been, a pre-adamic age - and surly this would have been a catastrophic event? Satan was cast out of heaven after Adam and Eve were created, because God said the Creation was still "very good" on day 6 after man had been created. There was nothing and no one here before Adam and Eve.

Satan wanted to be God. The Bible tells us in 2nd Corinthians 4:4 that Satan has become the "god of this world". And Revelation 20:10 tells us that he will be eternally punished for it. (2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.) Q When did Lucifer fall from Heaven? It was not before day 6 like many people believe (those who believe the "Gap Theory" wrongly claim this). The Bible tells us that Lucifer was in Eden (which was created on day 6) and was still without sin on that day. Ezekiel 28:13 (KJV) Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created." When Lucifer was cast out of Heaven, one third of all the angels were cast out with him. (Rev.12:4,9) Lucifer became Satan, and the fallen angels became Demons. (Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born., Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.) http://www.angelfire.com/mi/dinosaurs/lucifer.html Can Satan Read your Thoughts? By: Patrick Turner 2020 There are differences of opinions regarding if Satan can read you mind. My opinion is satan cannot read your mind and must depend on what you say or do to have ammunition on how to tempt you or how to discourage you. Recall we have many instances where satan or demons have entered into a human and influenced their activity but it is never said explicitly that satan knows what you are thinking. On the other hand we have many instances where the Bible explicitly tells us that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit knows our thoughts as explained below.

So, let s give satan as little ammunition as possible and guard our speech and actions. 2 Cor 10:5 Casting down every imagination and every high thing that exhalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Two passages in Psalms point out that God can read minds. Psalm 139:23 says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:" Psalm 94:11 says, "The Lord knows the thoughts of man, That they are futile." Matthew 9:3, 4 says, "And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, 'This Man blasphemes!' But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, 'Why do you think evil in your hearts?'" Acts 1:24 says, "And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;" (KJV) Revelation 2:23 reads, "And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works." (KJV) " I Pet. 5:8 9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world." 2 Chronicles 6:30, which says, "then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men)" Let s look at Job, where satan made some conclusions about Job and challenged God as to what was in Job s heart God allowed the devil his experiment; Job lost his livestock, many servants, and even the lives of his children. How did Job react? "Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: 'Naked I came from my mother s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.' In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong." (Job 1:20 22) So, the devil certainly did not know what Job would do. He had not read Job's mind; he had simply made a guess based on his observations (his walking to and fro, and up and down in the earth) and he was wrong. The evidence shows that, for all intents and purposes, satan cannot read your thoughts. The devil is neither omnipresent or omniscient, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7b)

Pastor Cliff Comments: this is a very good response. The salient point is that Satan is only the "false God of this world"; and in reality is a created being. He was created an angel and as such, is not omnipotent, omniscient, nor omnipresent. He does not know our thoughts while they are far off as the True and living God does (Psalms 139:1 [To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.]). He has shown the ability to "implant" thoughts/ideas however (i.e. Peter opposing Christ Mat. 16:21 23) and control our "thought processes" (Acts 5:3 [But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?]). Matthew 16:21 23 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. (22) Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. (23) But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

DEPRAVITY (Sin) Meaning of Depravity: By depravity we mean man's lack of original purity, righteousness, and affections toward the true God, and the corruption of his moral nature leaving him biased toward evil. While the Scriptures depict humanity as wholly, and "totally depraved", this has been misunderstood by many. From the negative: From the positive: It does not mean that every person is devoid of all noble qualities; It does not mean every sinner commits every form of sin; It does not mean he is as bitterly opposed to any concept of God as is possible. It does mean that every person is destitute of the love for the true God that is the foundational requirement of the Law (Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:; Matthew 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,); Man is supremely given to preference of self over God (2 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;); Positionally, he is at enmity with God, which at times is seen as open rebellion (Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.); His every faculty is disordered and corrupted (Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:); He has no thought, feeling, or deed which God can fully approve (Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.); Left to himself, man will progress in the marks of his depravity (Rom. 7:18); Man is Intellectually depraved (1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.). Man is volitionally depraved (Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:); Man is Spiritually depraved (Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;); Man Is behaviorally depraved Man is relationally depraved (Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;); (2 Corinthians 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ to Godward:); In other words, man is not as bad as he could be, but he is as bad off as he can be before a holy and just God. We require the work of God's Holy Spirit in order to even make a favorable response to God. Unpardonable Sin. Mark 3:22-30 states, Mark 3:22-30 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. (23) And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? (24) And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

(25) And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. (26) And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. (27) No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. (28) Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: (29) But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: (30) Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit. Matthew 9:34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. In Matthew 12:31-32, Jesus says to the Pharisees, Matthew 12:31-32 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. (32) And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. Sin Unto Death. First John 5:16 is one of the most difficult verses in the New Testament to interpret. If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that. Of all the interpretations out there, none seems to answer all the questions concerning this verse. The best interpretation may be found by comparing this verse to what happened to Ananias and Sapphira in (Acts 5:1 10 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, (2) And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. (3) But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? (4) Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. (5) And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. (6) And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. (7) And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. (8) And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. (9) Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at

the door, and shall carry thee out. (10) Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.) (see also 1 Corinthians 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep). The sin unto death is deliberate, willful, continuous, unrepentant sin. God, in His grace, allows His children to sin without immediately punishing them. However, there comes a point when God will no longer allow a believer to continue in unrepentant sin. When this point is reached, God sometimes decides to punish a Christian, even to the point of taking his or her life. That is what He did in Acts 5:1 10 and 1 Corinthians 11:28 32. This is perhaps what Paul described to the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 5:1 5. We are to pray for Christians who are sinning. However, there may come a time when God will no longer hear prayers for a sinning believer for whom He has determined that judgment is due. It is difficult to realize there are times when it is just too late to pray for a person. God is good and just, and we will just have to let Him decide when it is too late. 1 Corinthians 11:28 32 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. (29) For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. (30) For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (32) But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 1 Corinthians 5:1 5 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. (2) And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. (3) For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, (4) In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, (5) To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
