Transcription:

Christ the King Today s Gospel draws our attention to the relationship between the endtime and our life. Christ the King will preside over the judgment, whose outcome will be determined by our care for one another. We should not dream about heaven as an escape from the present responsibility. We already live in the presence of the Son of Man. His special dwelling is among the needy. Our attention to him there opens us to his full revelation as the ruler and judge of the endtime. This leads us to a more authentic understanding of Christ the King. To proclaim him king is not to demand a state religion. Jesus will claim his full title of king only at the hour of his coming in glory. But he lives now no less as king in a hidden way in the poor and the little ones. He is the defender of their rights and their appointed protector. In serving the poor, we serve him. St. Therese Church Parish office will be Closed, Thursday, November 27, 2014 Friday, November 28, 2014 Baptismal Blessings Congratulations to our newly Baptized members, Kaylin M. H. Luna, Ramaiah J.M. Baham, Liam O.J. Edwards, Andres E. Gonzales, Angelic O. Abeyta, Augustine S. Jimenez, Joyce C. Gomez. Lord surround these children with goodness, lead them in your light each day; help them walk in the path you ve chosen, guide their steps along the way. Teach them, Lord to trust your wisdom with a faith forever new; keep them from all harm, and bless them with your grace and goodness, too. Amen Our Wonderful Pope Francis Follow Pope Francis daily homilies from the chapel of the Retreat Center of Saint Martha where he lives in Rome or his weekly Angelus Addresses from the balcony above Saint Peter s Square. In our Parish APP we regularly feature these. Have you gotten into the APP yet if you have a smart phone or the necessary technology to do so? Have you heard the latest trends in the new bishops that have been appointed by Pope Francis they are following his lead when he refused to move into the Papal Palace but instead moved into the Saint Martha Retreat Center the new Archbishop of Chicago moved into a parish rectory instead of the Episcopal Mansion. We continue to pray for the next Archbishop of Santa Fe that he may have the loving and pastoral heart of Pope Francis and of our Lord Jesus, the Brave Shepherd. When it comes to the vocal minority, the tail must no longer wag the dog By Robert Mickens, Editor in chief of Global Pulse Magazine (a collaboration of the Catholic Commonweal, La Croix and Union of Catholic Asian News) Pope Francis transfer of the ultra conservative (and vocal critic of the papacy of Pope Francis) U.S. Cardinal Raymond Burke on Saturday from being the Vatican s chief justice to a mere cardinal-protector of the Knights of Malta has intensified yet more irresponsible talk of schism within the Catholic church. Read More online at ncronline.org National Catholic Reporter. [I have been placing news items in our bulletin about some of the current politics of the Vatican and Pope Francis. Cardinal Burke is a very conservative and vocal critic of Pope Francis. This would have never happened under the previous papal administrations. Most high ranking churchmen today owe their power and position from supporting the official party line of the pontiff. With the election of Pope Francis there has been an interesting situation in the Church where the conservative element in the church which flourished under the pontificates of Saint John Paul II and Pope Emeritus have been resisting the new vision, even publically opposing it. Even the Pope Emeritus has seen as most public making public appearances and statements. When he retired, Pope Benedict vowed that he would live hidden from the world. He was the head of the Catholic Church for eight years and had time to leave his own mark on the Church. Sadly now the Pope Emeritus is acting as if the Church has two Popes and those from his circle of power and influence are seen as meddling in the vision of Pope Francis. Please try to pay attention to the current politics in the Church. This is important! VPC]
