NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR Dear Sisters and Brothers, I am looking with hope towards the New Year 2017. Our beautiful parishes (Guardian Angels, Saint Columbkille, Saint Francis and Sacred Heart) have been so much alive and thriving in the past year. We have welcomed some new parishioners and sadly too we said good-bye to some wonderful people. We remember them in our prayers. Just recently we had the first Alpha course in our parish. It was a great success and I want to congratulate the team of lay people from our three parishes and our mission who ran it so smoothly. The course consisted of a lovely meal (great cooks we have in our parishes too), watching of a video (excellent content) and sharing in a small group setting. All priests have taken part in this course and we truly enjoyed sharing in this renewal experience. We will run it again in few weeks in an afternoon setting. I sincerely encourage everyone to consider taking the course. It is also something I would invite my friends too (non- Catholics as well). Maybe you can even accompany someone who is looking for some connection to the faith? Ponder this at the beginning of the New Year. I am also extremely happy thatt Wanda Minnings has begun her ministry as our parish coordinator of the Outreach to Seniors program. In few days a training of volunteers will begin and I thank all of you who volunteered so far. Now we invite you to help us to identify seniors who will benefit from this outreach program. Any senior at home or in a nursing home is a good candidate for this program. Please contact Wanda for more information. I know the need is there in the community and we have a great desire as the parish to reach out to those who are members of our parish and community for the last many years. I wish to thank each and every one of you for sharing of your time, talent and treasure with our parishes. We are all called to share in ministry of the Church and you have been doing it so well. As your pastor I am constantly inspired by your
generosity, kind eagerness to serve and your never ending enthusiasm in the service to one another in true charity. Let us make each day of the New Year a time to grow, share, love and witness. May our devoted service in whatever we do inspire and invite. May those who come to our parishes find a warm welcome, a friend, a Christian disciple, a good soul. With my Associate Pastors and our Parish Staff I wish you a blessed, healthy and happy New Year! Fr.
