HAVE SOME FRUIT When the seed of the Spirit ( Creator), planted in the earth( us) by truth and of truth, is watered by purity and given the light of illumination it brings forth, the fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. What is a fruit? A fruit is an expression of that which was sowed; it is a visual consequence and an effect of the cause. As one sows, so shall one reap or harvest. One cannot sow an apple seed and reap an orange fruit. It is the law of sowing and reaping. So also the fruit of the spirit is the expression of what was sowed. If love is sowed, it shall beget love. There is a more excellent way, dear friends: LOVE Owe no one anything except the debt of love. Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things Love brings.. FAITH What is faith? Now faith is the blessed assurance, absolute conviction and the complete confidence in the thing hoped for, the evidence of that thing not seen or visible yet. Faith is always a present (a now present). By faith the sick can be healed, lame can walk, blind can see, the deaf can hear. By faith kingdoms have risen and fallen, man has pursued many a great technological advancement, even walked on the moon and touched the depths of the ocean. Faith is not

believing in something only, but bringing it to become. Faith can move mountains and build bridges. Faith can remove obstacles and bring relationships together. Faith can make the weak strong. Faith brings.patience What is patience? An ability to bear provocation without complains, an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with, quiet and steady perseverance and diligence. The exercising of faith in differing, extreme and severe circumstances works or teaches patience. My great grandmother used to tie several knots in a twine or rope and hand it down to my mother and ask her to unknot the rope. She desired to teach my mother patience as she grew up. We all could use patience in our day to day life. So dear friends, consider the trying of your faith as an opportunity to learn patience. Patience brings JOY What is joy? The dictionary defines it as the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying, a source or cause of keen pleasure or delight, the expression or display of glad feeling, a state of happiness or felicity. Joy is to the soul as sunlight is to the world. Joy is to the heart as water is to the dry and parched land. Its energy is contagious and like a wild fire cleans and brings new life into the one who has or contains it. If the joy within us is the joy of the Spirit that created us, then that joy is a reservoir of strength to those who drink from it. Joy brings.peace What is peace?

Peace is a state of mutual harmony, it is cessation of or freedom from any strife or dissension, it is freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety. The searching soul of man is always looking for peace. The spas and leisure centers we see around us today, the all inclusive vacations, the serenity seminars and many more innovative ideas are all a testament of the ever searching and never finding. For even though these are but a temporary getaway, the ever increasing stress is a sure proof that they cannot bring peace.. Peace is immovable, and unshakable. Once a teacher asked her 5 th graders to draw a picture of what they thought was peace. And after the students were done drawing, she began to muse through their masterpieces. Finally she came to a picture that somewhat confused her because it depicted a scene of a great battle being fought with great casualties on either side. Still a little confused, she confessed to her student that she did not seem to understand this. Look at that little bird in the center of the picture? Asked the little girl with a gleeful look in her eyes. See how that bird is whistling and is not fazed by the war going on around her, continued the little girl. That bird has found peace and is not shaken by anything around her, concluded the little girl. Only a seed of peace sown in us can bring the fruit of peace. Peace brings..goodness, KINDNESS and GENTLENESS What is? Goodness is defined as the state or quality of being good, moral excellence, virtue, the best part of anything, essence, strength. Gentleness is kindly, amiable, and not severe, rough or violent. Kindness is benevolence, generosity, charity, compassion and tenderness to mention a few Outward attitude is an expression of an inward state. The attitude of gratitude results in goodness and gentleness. While

politeness can be politically correct, kindness is a genuine condition of a good heart. Remember. One reaps as one sows. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks goodness, kindness and gentleness or griping, murmuring and complaining. These bring..self CONTROL What is self control? The virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, control or restraints over oneself or passions and feelings. A famous quote from Pietro Aretino 10 May 1537 is I am a king because I know how to rule myself. A wise man once wrote by the pen of inspiration he that rules his spirit is mightier than he that conquers a city. So to conclude the matter, dear friends, bearing the fruit makes us fruitful and how can one be fruitful? Simply put, add these things to your life: Faith to virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The seed of God. When the seed of the spirit, is planted in the earth. The fruit that it brings forth, is the spirit by birth. With much pressure, the outward shell does die. And much like a baby born, the inward life comes out with a cry. Now through many trials and testings, this plant must become a tree.

Through many conditions it must stand, till it grows to be strong and free. To the light of illumination and the water of purity it must conform. It must face many a storm, until it is finally transformed. Then shall it be, for its purpose to perform. What say you is the purpose of this tree? But to bring forth the fruit, that was in the seed, you see? So if the seed that was planted is spirit in you. So shall the fruit be spirit too. Now the fruit of the spirit there are nine, love, faith and patience are divine. Goodness, gentleness and kindness, are also a sign. Joy, peace and self control, to the other six you must align. If all nine you combine, this is the bottom line. Now lend me you ears and please pay attention. As the climax to this poem, I am about to mention. So dear friends, who is this poem all about? You and me, without a doubt. You see, we are the earth, in which God desires his virtues to grow. His Almighty presence and power, he wants to bestow. His river of life, love and light, he wants to flow. His spiritual tree, he desires us to be. With leaves of healing and a spiritual fruit for everyone to see. ALAN PAUL.
