The Journal of the Cascade Mountain Men June, 2008 Minutes of the Cascade Mountain Men May13th, 2008 Meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Vice President Greg Field. 14 members were present. The minutes of the March meeting were accepted as published in the newsletter, however it was noted that future meeting dates were incorrectly noted. In case of future error, the meeting is to be the Tuesday evening preceding the 3rd Sunday of the month. That 3rd Sunday is our shoot date. March is the only exception to this schedule, due to conflicts with the gun show. Treasurer s Report: The treasurer's report was approved as read. The CMM Officers President Greg Field Vice-President Andy Williamson Treasurer Lee Johnson Secretary Steve Baima Range Officers Bruce Fischer Darrell Kapan Booshway Vacant Trustees Vern Steward Jerry Jezbec Ed Ingoldby Joe Schroeder Chuck Lacher Webmaster Karen Martin karen.mom@comcast.net cascademountainmen.com Newsletter Editor Steve Baima COMMITTEE REPORTS LEGISLATIVE: Secretary read a fax from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in reference to HR 1022. A suggestion was made to make this committee a regular donation point for annual donations. Bob Bowman inquired as to what percentage of the money that is taken in by CCRKBA goes toward defense of our 2nd amendment rights and what percentage goes toward administration of their organization. Goes is attempting to have the classification of black powder changed from an explosive 1.1 to 1.3 (DOT hazard classification) to bring about better availability and bring the price down. WSMLA: John Abbott spoke with Walt Christenson regarding the black powder shotgun shoot that has been proposed at the Seattle Trap and Skeet range. It is to be held on the first weekend in September. See the WSMLA at http://www.wamuzzleloaders.org/events. RENDEZVOUS: It was reported that the Powell River Rendezvous is cancelled due to the amount of snow that remains on Mt. Hood. RANGEMASTER: No report. GUN SHOW: Lee reported on our net profit from holding the gun show. Lane and Karen Martin have gone through all of the information and updated all of our trader information. Karen will forward this to Joe Schroeder for a comparison with previous information.

LAND: Bob Bowman reported on the follow-up of an advertisement for 40 acres of land near Soap Lake. These plots are selling for $39 thousand each but they held little promise as a potential rendezvous site. The members that were present were not very enthusiastic about this location. OLD BUSINESS It was good to see Jim Warfield at the meeting. He is still tender from his recent surgery but is "on the mend." He will start treatment soon, to arrest the cancerous growth that has spread to his other kidney and lung. The entire club wishes you the best Jim and a speedy and complete recovery. Greg inquired about the search for a new club business agent during the period that Jim is mending. Joe Schroeder stated that he would head the search. Andy Williamson stated that he had forwarded all of the financial information that he had received from Jim to our tax advisor. NEW BUSINESS Laurie is always searching for information for the newsletter for the Issaquah Sportsmen's club. She said that she could use articles related to black powder shooting. Ted is suffering from rumatoid arthritis and is taking medication for it. It was also announced that a fellow rendezvous regular and black powder enthusiast recently passed. Wooden Hat Charley.
