FINDING OUR SECURITY IN CHRIST ALONE God has so much planned for our lives Yet fear, worry and anxiety can cause us to miss out on God s best for our life The only way that we can realise our full potential in life and enjoy the abundant life that Jesus spoke of is to find our security in Christ alone This is also a great key to enjoying good healthy relationships with others

There are many ways in which people try and gain security in their life. Some of these include; By accumulating money and possessions Through their job or career and what they do, and Through relationships with others, Yet none of these can ever guarantee us true security at all times. Things can happen in life and people can leave us. Nothing is absolutely certain in life except that God is ALWAYS faithful It is only in knowing Christ intimately and in fully trusting Him with our life and future that we can enjoy true security in our life AT ALL TIMES

We have a God who is able to bring healing and restoration to our lives and who can help to meet our every single need in life; emotional, physical and spiritual The Apostle John wrote, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2) But in the midst of life s challenges and disappointments we can so easily lose sight of and forget the wonderful benefits that we have as Christians

This is why King David wrote, Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits; Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle s. (Psalm 103:2-5) As Christians we should be the most secure people in the world

God wants us to live our life from a place of security and confidence in Him so that we can have stability in our life. So why can we enjoy great security in our life as believers 1) That when we receive Christ into our lives and are born again we are justified and made right with a Holy God and become FOREVER part of His family (John 1:12) The Apostle Paul wrote, Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (Romans 5:1)

Jesus Himself said, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Our right standing with God is always based upon what Jesus accomplished on the cross in paying the penalty for all of our sins. It is through receiving the gift of righteousness (Romans 5:17) when we come to Christ that puts us in a right relationship with God and makes us eternally secure in our relationship with Him. The Apostle Paul, For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

The Apostle Paul also wrote, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

As Christians we can at all times come boldly to the throne of grace and make our petitions known to God (Jesus is our High Priest) In the book of Hebrews we read, Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)

2) Because God loves us more than any other person ever could The Apostle Paul wrote, But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) Only God can love us perfectly at all times. When we draw aside to spend quality time with the Lord He fills our own love tank, which then enables us to love others unconditionally.

Knowing and experiencing God's love gives us great emotional security and stability King David knew God s great love for him. He wrote in Psalm 139 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalm 139:17-18) King David also wrote, The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. (Psalm 103:8)

3) That the LORD will never leave nor forsake us, even though others may at times. God is always faithful to those who have put their faith and trust in Christ He will never reject us nor turn His heart away from us as believers Even on our worst day Jesus is still our best friend. As Christians we are absolutely secure in our relationship with the LORD

In the book of Hebrews we read, For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Hebrew 13:5-6)

The Apostle Paul wrote, For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

4) God always has our best interests at heart In the book of Jeremiah we read, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12-13)

Jesus Christ sacrificially gave His life for us that we can experience fullness of life in Him Jesus Himself said,...i have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) The Apostle Paul wrote, For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)

5) God has the best plan for our life which is full of great purpose and meaning His ways are higher than our ways The Apostle Paul wrote, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

In the book of Isaiah we read, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

6) Because no situation is ever impossible for God. Prayer can remove the mountains in our life Jesus Himself said, Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:22-24)

We have a God who is both willing and able to help us in time of need The angel Gabriel said to Mary the mother of Jesus, For with God nothing will be impossible (Luke 1:37) We have a God who is able to turn our circumstances around IF we allow Him to have His way in our life. The LORD said to Jeremiah, Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3)

We have a God who hears and answers all of our prayers that are in line with His will for our life (Even though His timing may be different to ours) The Apostle John wrote, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (1 John 5:14-15)

7) When we put Christ and the things of God's Kingdom first in our life God promises to meet our every need in life Jesus Himself said, Therefore do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? Or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:31-33)

8) That nothing can stop God's plan and destiny for our life from coming to pass if we simply continue to allow the Lord to direct our steps in life King David wrote, Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:3-5)

The Apostle Paul wrote, Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

9) That God is able to open up doors that no man can close. God is truly sovereign in the affairs of this world In the book of Revelation we read, These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens : I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. (Revelation 3:7-8)

10) That God will always give us the wisdom that we need in life if we ask in faith for His help. In the book of James we read, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8)

As God is always willing to give us wisdom to make right choices in life, we can keep our lives uncomplicated by applying His wisdom to our own lives. There is also much wisdom in the bible to help us to do life well. In the book of Proverbs we read, Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. (Proverbs 16:3)

11) That when our trust is in Christ alone we can still enjoy God's peace and joy even during the midst of the storms of our life In the book of Isaiah we read, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength. (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Jesus Himself said, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27) The Apostle Paul wrote, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

12) That God will always empower us to do all that He calls us to do in life - His strength is made perfect in our weakness The Apostle Paul wrote, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) The Apostle Paul also wrote, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (Ephesians 6:10)

King David wrote, But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him. (Psalm 37:39-40) The Apostle Peter wrote, If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies,... (1 Peter 4:11) God will always empower us to complete the tasks that He gives us to do in life

13) That God is able to connect us with the right people in life King David wrote, God sets the solitary in families;... (Psalm 68:6) God knows our every single need in life and will always connect us with those people that we need to fulfil our God given destiny The LORD God Himself brought to Adam his wife Eve (Genesis 2:22) after He said, It is not good that man should be alone;... (Genesis 2:18)

14) That we can walk in Divine health and that God is able to heal us even when doctors have given up on us King David wrote, Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits; Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, (Psalm 103:2-3)

15) That death no longer has any sting. For believers we have eternal life and to be absent from our body is to be with Christ. That one day we will receive a new glorified resurrection body Jesus Himself said, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die... (John 11:25-26)

The Apostle Paul wrote, For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. (2 Corinthians 5:1-5)

16) That we are never alone when we come to Christ because the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of the Lord) is dwelling with us at all times. He is our continual companion and friend Jesus Himself said, And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. (John 14:16) and

17) That we can assured of God's protection at all times. He is continually watching over us and NOTHING can happen to us apart from His will for our life In Psalm 91 we read, Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:9-11)

Jesus Himself said, Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father s will. (Matthew 10:29) Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:31)

So in conclusion; Because of our great security in Christ we can make a great difference in this world for eternity as we simply TRUST God at all times and allow Him to direct our steps in life Whatever God directs us to do in life is always for our own good. We need to just trust God at all times and in all circumstances and simply follow His instructions for our life.

There is a saying "Trust and Obey for their is no other way God truly has the best for our future. As we fully commit our life and plans to the Lord He will ensure that all that He has planned for our life will come to pass and He also promises to meet our every single need in life along the way.

God promises to direct our steps in life if we simply let Him. He knows the wonderful plan that He has for each of our lives We need to simply trust God in EVERY area of our life and let Him lead In the book of Proverbs we read, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

As we surrender full control of our life to Christ and make having intimacy with Him our highest priority in life we will always enjoy great security and purpose in life. The Apostle Paul wrote, Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (Ephesians 3:20) You can fully trust God with your future. May I encourage you to do so from this day on.
